Personally, I'm glad he re-signed. I think he played good toward the end of the year. Not a world-beater, but then again he was never meant to be.

For someone who figures to be a 5/6th guard...not sure how you can hate on him. Glad he's back.

One thing I like about the signing is he picked the Wizards over the Heat :)

They might as well cancel the season and give the Wizards the championship now.

I like the signing. He's exactly the type of guy you want as your 5th or 6th guard. He can fill in at the 1, 2 or 3, wherever the injury bug hits, but he's not going to whine when he doesn't get playing time. He'll just work hard in practice and wait his turn.

Mods are dissin Garrett here. They stickied the threads for the Webster and Maynor signings but not this one. If Temple turns into a locker room problem we know who to blame.

I like Temple. Good personality fit here. Has a bankable skill with his defense. Capable of playing both guard spots. Steady and smart, won't crap his pants if he gets into the game and plays extended minutes. Good to have players like him at the end of your bench.

I like that we used the D League to find guys like GRJr and Temple. We can't compete for most of the desirous free agents so we have to use every tool out there to build the roster. We got our premium talent from the draft, but that well is going dry next season most likely. So we need castaway gems like Webster and hopefully Maynor. D Leaguers like Temple. Opportunistic, second and third tier trades like Okafor and Ariza and Nene. We're not getting a Ray Allen to pick up and sign here.

I think they are building toward that. That will come with playoff wins.

I like the Temple resigning a lot. It may seem like a small move but its an important one. Sets the stage for other call ups and shows anyone can make it. He didn't disappoint last year. He didn't crumble under the pressure of the bigger stage. He did exactly what the coaches wanted from him. Good team guy. He never gave up on his goal and now he has his first full season contract.

Same is true of Webster. He did right by us and we did right by him. So they next player like that we find sees how they Wizards will reward that type of person and player.

Good for Temple. 6-6, 27 yrs mature. Seems like a good person. Focused. Plays PG and SG. Defends. Not afraid to take the big shot if open. Only 1M. Only thing I think that would have made this signing better is if they did it for 2 year. If he is good for them this year, what would change to make him not good for them next year ? He isn't going to get worse. He is a perfect end of the bench two position (not combo) guard.

Hell, they should have inked him for 3 years.

3-years for Temple, are you serious? What we really needed was front court depth.

It's very difficult to ink a free agent vet to a minimum-salary contract lasting longer than 1-year. What is the motivation for the player? He knows he's good enough to latch onto another team next summer for the vet minimum, so the financial security of a 2nd year is meaningless to him. Better for Temple to sign a 1-year deal and hope he can earn more than vet minimum money next year.

I'm also going to be looking for that second spot behind Brad (Beal) being a defender. The main thing is still my versatility being able to guard point guards, (shooting) guards and small forwards if need be."

"The last three months of the season, me and Ernie talked about that, I shot 41% from three. If I could just continue that and just start that from the beginning, that's what we need for guys to knock down perimeter shots for John," Temple said. "People don't understand in the D-League I was shooting 39% from three. I was a three-point shooter. Make my perimeter shots and be the defender that I am, that's all we need. We have so many options in terms of guys that can score and create their own shot...you need guys coming off the bench playing defense and knocking down open jumpers."

I like the potential of Temple and I really like what I read as his make up. I think we are going to see contributions from Kevin and Ves this year, mostly because they will be used in better roles and with combinations of players around them that allows them to play to the more efficient aspects of their games.

I heard an analyst say once, to many focus on what a player can't do. Not enough people focus on what they can do and put them in a position to do those things.

Kevin will play inside more and shot his efficient hook. The improvement for him should be to focus on improving his court awareness and passing out of the post and staying focused on rebounding. Those are achievable goals. A lot of that is experience, training and maturity. He can achieve that.

Ves with Nene as center and a SF with range can do what he does best. The improvement for him is to focus on improving his FT shooting and a few mid range shots. Nothing huge. Just a 10 footer. Those are achievable goals for him.

But Temple, I think he already has most the skills he needs and he is the most mature of the 3. I like his height. I like his perimeter D. He is like a SG version of Trevor A. And I like that he doesn't play scared. The stage doesn't intimidate him. He wasn't afraid to take and make the big shot last year even when he was the new guy. He has fought to get his first 1 year contract. It didn't come easy but he stuck to it. I like that.

I think we are going to see more efficient production from all three but of the them, Temple is very UTR. I think he can be a surprise in what he adds to the team this year. He has a chance to earn a place in the league as a Trevor A SG that backs up SG and PG and can guard 3 positions. That's a good player to have.

He shot .325 from 3 last year. He shots .429 in March from 3 and .391 for April.

I think he will increase his 3 pts shooting numbers for the year up from .325 to something a lot closer to .400

That will be huge for him and the team because the need legit back up SG options and they need team defense. I think this is the year he solidifies himself as a legit NBA player who sticks around for another 3 years min and if he does that, he has a chance to play into his mid 30s.

Wall, Temple, Trevor A, Booker/Ves, Nene might be able to produce some productive minutes as a line up that rests Beal and Webster.

That said, he has a real fight for minutes. Otto will probably get a crack at the back up SG spot first. But maybe Temple gets his chance at the start of the year as Randy brings Otto along slowly and the team starts the year with a tough schedule.
