It's good-thing we shored-up our front court depth like everyone has been asking for

Commence with the injury excuse early Grunfeld supporters

Sounds like he's got a pinched nerve.

I don't see this as being a terrible thing. It means the likelihood of us making a move at the deadline just went up considerably.
If Vesely has really improved we'll get a chance to see it as well.

well the article states rehab and not surgery...If he was having surgery he'd be out 3-6 months I think. I think he'll be out 2-3 months now...which is ok..our first month has a brutal schedule anyways. But yeah, I woulda really liked for them to after a banger in the 2nd round, or at least a stretch 5. Muscala had to be available..

Okafor will play very little or not at all this year. Whatever the worst-case scenario is, take that, add another month to it, and there's your answer.

Here's my confusion, the season doesn't start for another 6 weeks. So are we saying he's out indefinitely meaning he's out for training camp and preseason or is he going to miss actual time?

I don't think any timetable is set...rehab should take between 1-12 weeks (quite the range according to a google search!). I assume he'll miss all of the preseason, which is fine and at least a couple weeks, possibly a month of the RS. The more realistic assumption though, is the one Spence provided.

Oof. Bad news.
I guess Seraphin will eat most of those minutes, with Honza and Harrington picking up the rest.

You are familiar with the Wizards, are you not? Then you already know the answer to your question. Yes, he's going to miss actual time. He's going to miss A LOT of actual time. When he comes back -- if he comes back -- it will be too soon and he will very quickly suffer a relapse on that injury or suffer another injury due to his long layoff and not getting into proper shape before playing in an NBA game. He will then go on the disabled list again.
This is the Wizards, people. Count yourselves lucky if this guy ever wears a Wizards uniform in an NBA game again.

Great, how is this not bad news? The guy could at least defend and rebound some. Nene is now the healthy one at the moment? And we're relying on Al Harrington to get 25+ minutes coming off an injury-marred season? Singleton is hurt and Booker is more fragile. Seraphin stunk last season and Ves can't physically hold up defensively at the 4 and 5 for long stretches. Maybe we should go small ball ala Golden State.

Exactly, and cue Ernie Grunfeld's injury excuse rescuers to the board

On the bright side, this is an injury Bradley Beal absolutely could not suffer.

Back injuries are tricky and there is really no telling how long this will take to fix or how likely it is to flair up again. This is a significant injury because Okafor was easily the teams best rebounder and I think he was clearly their best defender too.

Can you imagine how awesome the front court will be once Nene injure's his foot during training camp? Are you ready for 35 MPG of Seraphin and Honza? Can't wait to renew NBA league pass!

Yep! DC sports will never catch a break. Just isn't in the cards..

My biggest concern is that now, Wittman is going to play Nene 34 minutes a night. Nene will only last 15 games at that pace before he breaks down.
It's also a shame that Seraphin has worked all offseason at trimming down and preparing for the PF position, only to be thrust back into the backup C position.
