Tues

On NBATV

Wow, we are going to be starting the season before long.

Looking forward to getting my first look at Wall, Beal and Nene together. Plus all the others like Maynor, AH, Kevin and Ves.

Will FIAT Booker be ready ? Otto ?

Real excited to see Seraphin; also want to see if this Vesely thing is real or not.

Hoping to see Nene, Seraphin, Vesely, and Booker be good enough that I never see Al Harrington for the whole season :-) but yeah, looking forward to the start of the year.

Well there is talk of an up tempo running offense. So even if he still can't shoot, that plays right into what he can already do. Run the floor and dunk. That was one of his known skills when he was drafted as a compliment to what Wall can do. Should be nice to see them on the court together more this year. We didn't really see that last year.

I still think they might actually start Ves with those other vets to balance the line ups. He glue game of picks, passing ans slashing to the basket would work well with them and hide most of his weaknesses.

Wall/Maynor
Beal/Temple/Glen Rice
Trevor A/Webster
Ves/AH/Booker
Nene/Kevin

Injured: Okafor, (Otto?, Singleton ?)

I could easily see Randy going with this. Web says Trevor A is the starter. AH wants to come off the bench so he can chew up the other teams second unit. We know Maynor is the back up PG. And don't count out Temple. Dude was a 3 ball shooting in DL and he said he worked on it more over the summer. And he can defend.

I think those line ups are a good balance as a place to start. And it give Kevin the entire post to operate with those baby hooks. Just needs to rebounds and pass out of the double. I think he can do it.

I just looked at the preseason schedule...weren't most of our games locally televised last season? Wtf. Is it because hockey is back? More reason for me to hate sports that utilize sticks.

Well there is talk of an up tempo running offense.

Every single offseason, every single team says that they want to get out and run more.

In all honestly, we don't need "running players". John Wall is a one-man fast break, particularly if the other wings can trail and spot up for 3. He can do the fast breaks by himself. I'd rather just have half-court oriented big men who know how to grind it out.

I don't totally disagree, but it's better for the team if he's not relied on to be a 1 man fast-break. It puts too much stress - phyiscally - on him, and it's almost always best to involve the rest of the team - provided they're competent. And I want him to have the energy to focus more on his half-court game - which is where he can make a lot of improvement.

We do hear something similar every season, I recall them really touting how fast Booker was in the sprint at the combine, I can't visualize too many instances where that's actually helped.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm a total non-believer in Brooklyn with their gang of players in their final year or so. I won't be surprised if they miss the playoffs altogether.

Whereupon everyone will say "they never developed chemistry..." when the truth is most of those guys don't play at the levels they used to.

Names don't win games.

Well they have been talking about stats that are transition 3s. They did really well with those. So when I say run, that is a part of it. Kind of what you are saying. Randy has been all about pace and getting the ball up court. Even with the pass. They just need 2 or 3 at a time doing it to work. Wall can run. Ves can run. And I think Beal can keep up. Thats 3 right there. Another reason they might start Ves.

It will be interesting to see what starting lineup Wit goes with. The best 5 would be Wall, Beal, Web, Ves, Nene... But that leaves an extremely offensively challenged second unit. Damn, my rose colored glasses are starting to turn brown again.

Manyor - running the show and setting it up
Temple/Glen - Gotta see what they have. Temple can actually hit the 3 and Glen is supposed to be a scorer
Webster - corner 3s
AH - at little of everything
Kevin - Post hooks

And that is the worse cause. Web can play the 2 with Trevor A in or Beal at the 2

They should be fine. You have 3 vets in that line up.

And as long as you have vets, you don't NEED talent.

Vets already understand... what it takes to lose 50 games a season.

There isn't much mystery. Wall, Beal, Webster and Nene are starting if they're healthy. The only question is PF.

Starting Vesely probably makes the most sense because he is best when surrounded by good offensive players who draw the defense's attention, allowing Vesely to cut to the basket and finish. Wall, Beal and Nene have the court vision to make use of him.

The 2nd unit will run the offense through Seraphin. I guess we'll find out soon enough if Seraphin's hard work will translate into game production.
