Best place for Preseason stats is right here on RealGM

Have fun if you haven't looked these over.

Interesting stuff when filtered by per 36

PTS
Big Cheese actually posting similar Pts/36 as Double B at 24.5 ish

STLs
Glen Rice is a ball hawk. And Maynor is also. Trevor A was 3rd

BLKS
Kevin and Ves blocked a few shots in preseason 1.99 and 1.77

AST
Maynor kept pace with Wall in assists. He can't shoot but he does run the offense.

FTA
Nene, Rice and Webster got there most. Wall will step it up in the real season.

RBS
Ves out paced Booker and was the best rebounder on the team short of Josh who played limited mins

So

Maynor can assist and steal so he has some utility as a back up PG, just can't shoot.
Ves actually showed pretty well leading the team in rebounds/36 and blocking shots. But can't score
Rice looks like he is going to be helpful this year. Fights hard on D, steals and drives aka gets to the line
Big Cheese can really fill it up. Microwave
Nene really got the line a lot, now he has to start hitting more of them. Those are free pts.
Kevin rebounded as well as Nene. 8.7/36

Advanced Stats

As for Wall, I think he will drive more once the season start so his FTA and FG% and Pts will go up. No reason to get beat up in preseason. We already now he can drive. He will be more like 8 FTA/36 He was 6.88 last year and his final months where a lot higher then that.

Beal with a PER of 25, Nene with a PER of 23 and Booker with a PER of 20. If Wall can wake up, we could have a darn good group of starters.

Vesely shooting 35% from the floor and 41% from the line. He really is in the Nikoloz Tskitishvili echelon of epic busts.

Ouch. Look at those advanced stats for John: 0.414 TS%. .366 eFG% 12.5 PER.
Then there's this.... .188 3FG% 3.4 TOPG 10.8 PPG.

Beal on the other hand: 25 ppg per 36 minutes on 0.621TS% and .472 3FG% on over 6 attempts per game! :o

Its like Beal took Wall's mojo. I have confidence we can get the season averages of Wall last year back...not sure about his 2 month stretch.

Booker and Nene are looking promising. Although the numbers don't really show it, I think seraphin has been far more physical this season.

We're honestly Wall just reverting back to season averages last season from winning our fair share of games.

I am trying not to put too much stock in preseason but when i see Wall come down in transition and pull up for a long 2 off the dribble it is really annoying.

I will say this. I think the fans have been too hard on Ariza this Preseason. He's had a history of suckage besides his title year but when he's on, he's pretty darn good. Now you can say that about anyone, including chucking scrubs like NY or JC but I think Witt is banking on a few things. I think he is banking on this being a contract year, having other players around him, and most of all Wall being healthy.

I think Witt is looking no further then last year and our fans seem to forget about that. Ariza was typical Ariza alot of the seaon but when Wall was healthy, Ariza found a groove similar to Beal that no one seems to remember anymore. He shot a very good percentage for a SF and was dynamite from 3 over a very long stretch. I think Witt feels like he brings the D, the steals, the versatility, you can count on Web off the bench, and this is all if Ariza sucks on O but then you can add on that he has atleast a 50% chance to catch lighting in a bottle with Wall like he did last year.

Like Beal, he was horrible in November and horrible in December but in Jan he missed some games but brought his percentage up to 40% and 33% from the 3pt line. In Feb he played every single game, took alot of 3's and still shot 49.1% from the field and 39% from 3 even while taking 4 per game. Thats lights out. In March he shot 44% and a crazy 43% from 3 while taking 5 of them per game. I think Witt thinks he can put up a good percentage if Wall plays like Wall and I wouldnt be shocked if he did eihther. I do think people forget how good he was over that stretch, similar to Beal but ofcourse a lesser player. I think he looked like typical Ariza in the Preseason but he found that groove again in the final game and I wouldnt be shocked if he was lights out for a good stretch after that

I think he's just working on his midrange game while simultaneously trying to avoid unnecessary injuries. He'll probably start taking it to the rim much more when the regular season starts. That'll get him to the foul line, which will boost his TS% and get opponents into foul trouble.

I was thinking that he wasn't going to drive much in preseason which is why i haven't been griping about it. But i would rather see him pass rather than jack up long 2s off the dribble.

He has played like crap in preseason. It will be interesting to see how he does now that the games count. Every player is up and down to an extent but his ups and especially downs can be a bit extreme.

Just ran a crude regression to predict records for teams this season based on a combination of preseason performance and what the team did last season. Wizards project to 34-35 wins. So, go get a 2nd mortgage and bet it on the Wizards to miss the playoffs.

:)

if thats the case then Im betting it on us to make the playoffs because alot of that had to be based on Wall's absence last year and his terrible Preseason this year. He has to play a ton better than that

our record wasn't impressive but it kinda reminds me of when Wall was out
to start last year. We lost a ton but were close in a lot games. 3 of our preseason
losses went down to the wire (BRK, CHI and DET). Hard to predict what might've
happened if both teams were more intent on winning those games.

Wall playing like ass is a concern especially now we're married to him for
the foreseeable future. Hopefully it's just a preseason thing but I wish I was
more confident about that. He was amazing for the last 6 weeks of last year.

I think it's unrealistic to see either set of numbers continue into regular season.

I think it's obvious Wall was going through motions, fine tuning elements of his game while Beal was full bent on showing how much he's improved.

Both went into the preseason with different approach.

Preseason means a lot more to those players with something to prove. These numbers are encouraging for Beal but meaningless in the larger scope of things.

I've concluded that he's only been doing that to work on his jumper a bit and avoid injury. There's no way he could think playing like that in the regular season would be a good idea, he can't possibly be that stupid.

When he went on a tear last season, it was mainly due to him being aggressive and attacking. For example, in the 47pt game he shot a ton of FTs. And in interviews he seemed to acknowledge that as the best way for him to play. So I'm a little worried but not terribly so.

As of now Wall isn't a Westbrook, Rose, Paul etc who are seasoned All-Stars and know they can turn it on whenever they want. We're basically banking on him figuring out how to turn 'it' on, for the first time. I predict he will start slow with a lot of TOs, but a month or so in will step it up.

Beal though, that kid has it figured out. He will play at a near All-Star level the entire season.

Yep. Hopefully Wall will play better. And Okafor will return. And Nene will be reasonably healthy and productive.

Last season Wall took 7.5 shots per game from 10-23 feet (making 36%) so it is a little hard for me to completely dismiss his preseason shot selection.

Hopefully some of those long 2s with be 3s this season. I hate it when he passes up a catch and shoot 3, takes one or two dribbles and launches a long 2.

Are we still talking about preseason? Do you guys realize that it's common for veterans to fine tune aspects of their game during preseason play? Preseason games really aren't about attacking the rim with reckless abandon so you can put your body at risk to draw meaningless fouls.

Yeah, the math on long 2s and mid-range jumpers is really bad.
