Getting together for home games with the RealGM/Wizards fans

Post#1 » by FreeBalling » Fri Nov 1, 2013 9:14 pm

I wanted to see if there is any interest from the fans on this site to attend one or more of the home games this year. Maybe we could meet downtown before the game for a bite to eat or cold beverages. I am not sure if this going on now, so MODS feel free to merge this thread.

I was talking to my contact over at the Washington Wizards today and he suggested giving me a discount or upper level cost for lower level tickets. It's all about numbers when it comes to cost. However, there are times when the Wizards are trying to fill empty seats.

Anyone interested?

I'd be cool with that. Though I already have tickets for some games. I'd love to see what's available.

Been a while since we've successfully done one of these where a good number showed up. It was easier when we had a guy from the Wiz ticket office that would post here and we could all get tickets from him. When he left, it was tough to coordinate everybody getting tickets to the same game.

But if you've got a new contact, it could work again.

I had the same idea, where the group picks the game and we then pay the Wizards guy directly. I'm not collecting funds. It also seems like a great way to meet some of the people from the board.

Do you want me to pull some strings to get you close to EG so you can get some mindshare?

If you want, I can set this up with my rep....she is really cool and I'm positive she'd give us a great discount.

I miss the old days when Rothman was working the ticket office and I had the pleasure of meeting so many of you old timers on our RealGM outings. Remember how we'd even have dinner first at MJs restaurant? Good times.

I'd love to be up for a get-together. If we did a Chicago game, I'd try to make up a bunch of Luv-a-Bulls signs (if we got seats behind the basket) and when DRose were trying to concentrate on a FT, we could all rise up with our fave Luv-a-Bull.

You'll probably have to go to Hawaii to meet CCJ. I plan on doing that someday.

Where do you live? For some reason I thought you were in or around Baltimore.

Lived in DC, went to school in Baltimore, now live in MI. Had to pull the trigger on League Pass ($130) to watch hot garbage throwing up bricks every other night (one of my few terrible financial decisions).

I'd be interested in being part of a meet-up. 2 things about that for me:
1. I wouldn't need tickets as I am a season ticket holder
2. I just about always have a daughter in tow and they're both too young to
drink. The main thing about that is that I need to have a table. Can't sit or
stand at the bar with them in tow.
3. A lot of times I'm not there that far in advance to get to a bar for a drink.
I usually time my arrival so I can park and walk to the phone booth just in time.

I did meet LR and Dat (and some others) once at GB. Wasn't that impressed by GB.
My preferred place is DA RFD's due to fabulous beer selection. But I usually drink
2 beers in camouflaged cups walking from my car. If I drink any more than that,
I don't enjoy it as much. We had a meetup once there before a playoff game.
Cramer and Donk, BP32...some others were there.

If we do decide to meet before a playoff game, Dobro's daughters will probably be of age to throw back a few brews down by then.

I'm in, sounds fun. Can also bring my son (20) who lurks here frequently. We'd need to do the ticket thing.
