Any idea when he might play this year? Haven't seen any news regarding his status...

Consultant - I don't know if you read this board regularly, but if not, FYI, 2-3 weeks is not a real estimate. It is a running joke on this board based on years of Bullets/Wizards injuries for which management (and our crack medical staff) would say the return time was 2-3 weeks, when it turned out to be much much longer. I'm not aware of any publicly announced timetable for his return.

Haha alright, I get it. Actually a Bulls fan but drafted Porter in a deep league. He's on IR but I think I'm going to drop him since I'm not sure he'll even get PT whenever he's healthy - fair assessment?

Probably fair since he shares the 3 spot with both Webster and Ariza.

i've never seen this little press on a #3 draft pick. Its pretty much crickets.
either hes a complete an utter bust and they dont want him to play or its the most inept handling of an injury even for the wizards. After about a month they decide to give him and MRI Figure out what the injury is for f's sake!

He's playing as good as Anthony Bennett.

Some would say better.

Porter may have more trade value than Bennett does simply b/c of the "unknown factor".

Right now, I'm liking what Porter is giving a lot better than what I've seen so far from Bennett.

Funny that as I read this I had a thought I like Terrence Jones right now more than either of these guys. Otto and Bennett are a couple years younger, but right now I'd take Jones. Wizards could have an awesome trade with Houston:
Porter, Vesely, Seraphin to the Rockets for Asik, Terrence Jones, and Greg Smith
That would perhaps go over based on Porter's draft hype and potential, plus Asik not fitting in with Howard. It also clears cap room for Houston. Asik would be terrific insurance in case Gortat is lost in free agency.

Terrence is a tweener. Asik is better than Gortat but Gortat + Porter is a significantly better combination imo.
People are just sleeping on Porter because of the "what have you done for me lately" thing.
People don't realize how hard it is to stand out as a wing leader at Georgetown in that system. It's a big dominated system. Porter is going to be a player.
If we lose Gortat then oh well. Wait another year for Nene to expire and then be able to offer the max in a great FA year.

DF, thanks.
I'm going to add the same idea in the trade thread to see if most agree. IMO Jones is like a young Al Harrington but with better scoring potential. I want to win this season and I think Asik's defense replaces Okafor's, and he's an even better rebounder.
I agree that it's really premature to give up on Otto, but in this case, I've seen what Jones did in D-League. He was the MVP on the same team Rice Jr. played.

I'll take a chance on a tweener who measured in at 6'9.5, 252 lbs, a 7'2.25 wingspan, 8'11 standing reach, and 34.5 max vert who's shown he can score, rebound, block shots, and run the court. The problem with him is the same one that Josh Smith has - his long-range shooting. He thinks he has more range than his stats show. And he's gotta long windup on his shot - making his release slow. But he's just 21, so there's reason for hope that he either adjusts his offensive game to shooting fewer jumpers, or he improves his jumper. If he does succeed in improving the jumper significantly, he's got all-star potential.

I like that thought of Terrence Jones. What concerns me is that Houston, a team in dire need of good PF play, hasn't found room for him. With that the case, I don't think I'd offer much in a trade for him. Maybe they'd go for a Booker for Jones swap.

Or, do they consider their other tweener forward - Chandler Parsons - more of a PF than a SF? I don't know. His skill set gives him a big advantage as a stretch 4 who can also go right around most PF's.

You really think Asik is ready to go back to being a reserve behind Gortat without complaint?
I'm not ready to trade Porter unless it's for a core player which I don't think TJones is. He has looked good in limited minutes but not #3 pick good. (Assuming the Wiz front office knew what it was doing -- sigh)

McHale just might be moronic enough to go for that. I think McHale is guilty of what a lot of former players do. They see themselves in certain players. McHale has to love Asik for his toughness and rebounding ability. But not so much Motiejunas or Terrence Jones. Those two are not fundamental, low block, tough guys. Terrence Jones is a high flier who's acrobatic. I can's see how on earth he and Greg Smith don't get playing time.
nate, I'd LOVE to see Booker for Jones. Trevor is more of a banger/scrapper and less of a three-point shot taker who has lapses in judgment like young Jones. Trevor is more of McHale's type of player but that would be one lopsided deal for the Wiz IMO.
Ruz pointed out that Jones has some really good height, length, and athleticism for a so-called tweener.
