Is this Crazy to read into?

Post#1 » by Jay81 » Fri Jan 17, 2014 8:59 pm

LeBron James on John Wall: “When John Wall is healthy, they are a very, very good team. He played an unbelievable game tonight."

Any chance Lebron would consider coming here to win some more titles? He loves Wall and Beal and seems to like Ted and the city. Going back to Cleveland is too predictable and Mike Brown is there and his time is running out in Miami.

I don't think Lebron leaves Miami. Why would he join a FO led by a clown like EG and Baghdad Ted, when he's got a FO led by Pat Riley and Mickey Arison?

Don't see it either. His kid is a budding hoops phenom in Miami, and he is continually expanding on his house down here.

I'm sure the fan base frustrates him however. But DC? Never going to happen....nor would I want it to....

I think that what LeBron was implying was really that... reading between the lines...

Wall played very well, and the Wiz are good when he's healthy and playing very well.

Why isn't this thread called, "LeBron calls Wall 'unbelievable' after Heat loss to Wiz"? And why isn't it posted on the main board?

LeBron ain't coming here. I don't want LeBron here. Besides we wouldn't have cap for him after signing Durant. But, it's great to hear that sources at RealGM say LeBron wants to come here, but other sources say they are holding out for Durant.

Reading a little deeper, you'll see that he's also saying, "I love it when people ask me questions."

It's not crazy to read into it, I just don't read that he's hoping to sign here this summer.

But I think we can all agree that Lebron carries a lot of weight around the league. Players notice comments like this; they internalize them. Then when they have to decide between free agent offers from the Wizards and the Hawks or Raptors or Jazz or Cavs, we get the nod. Then after a while we start to end up on lists of teams players would accept a trade to because, you know, John Wall -- who wouldn't want to play with that guy.

So yeah, I actually think this is kind of a big deal.

Yes, a big deal for the reasons you state, but not so much a gift from LeBJ as it is something that Wall's play is legitimately earning. When Arenas was here, people around the league took the wizards seriously for a second until it all imploded. It's nice to have a player on the team who's getting serious respect from other players.

Not at all.

Plus, it could get Lebron out of what Forbes named America's 6th most miserable city.

Miami is far from miserable for people with money. South beach/Brickell/Coral Gables are insanely wealthy and very shut off from Little Havana etc. No money? Pretty damn miserable I agree.

Sitting in a 70th story penthouse with a view of south beach and dozens of restaurants and bars within walking distance, with some of the most beautiful/fit people in the country is pretty damn good for a rich athlete/wealthy Latin American buying investment/second homes.

Forbes also says Hong Kong is in the top 5 most expensive cities in the world. It's nowhere close, New York is FAR more expensive. Lived in HK for about a year.

All that being said, I can't stand miami at my age/profession. Education level is too low, and there is zero tech scene.

See, an expert like Induveca acknowledges how despicable a place Miami is -- uneducated citizenry and crappy technology. It's understandable that Lebron would think Miami an upgrade over Cleveland, but DC would be far more fitting for a global icon like himself.

Sitting in a penthouse, going to expensive restaurants and hanging with beautiful people on south beach might be cool for some ballers but it's clear that Lebron wants more than the superficial. Plus he now can say he's been there and done that.

...and if Lebron's son is indeed a budding hoops star, by moving to DC he'd be bringing his son to a region with some of the best private, Catholic and public high school bball programs in the country.

Since when did being miserable and being wealthy not correlate ? I think you`ll find some of the most truly miserable people in the wealthiest areas all over the world.

I visited South Beach last summer. People are no where close to being fit. I saw more jelly rolls and muffin tops in one day than I ever have in my whole life.

I thought it was one of the most boring cities I have ever been to. It lost its charm in about 1.5 days. After years of hating him, I would openly embrace LeBron in DC. I don't care anymore. He's not coming here but it would be cool if he did.

Ha....problem is:

Weather (training in 75 degrees vs 35 in January)
Taxes
Night scene
Perceived glamour

If I sound like an **** with my descriptions so be it....but anyone who has seen poor DC and poor Miami realize poor Miami is on a whole other level, maybe only certain parts of LA can compete. Essentially illegals straight from the 3rd world. But they are 10 to 25 miles from the obscenely wealthy areas of Miami.

It may seem unfathomable for those with some cash, but those same poor areas are heaven compared to where Latin American immigrants came from (much like my family).

Real issue is the second generation with no possibility to climb out or appreciate their home, when all they aspire to do is party in South Beach with the likes of Heat players. Private schools are amazing, public...awful.

Sad state of affairs, but James lives a life of local worship/glamour here I doubt he leaves....especially with the unbelievable tax breaks afforded to residents and wealthy.

Mansion in McLean or 70th story penthouse 10 blocks away from work with 20 percent tax savings?

South Beach nightlife? Meh. For an African-American there are few, if any, cities with a better social, economic, educational and cultural environment and connections than DC. Don't know if that matters to Lebron, but it does to a lot of black folks.

End of the day, it's taxes and endorsements. DC fails on both. National endorsements he gets anywhere.

I can see Cleveland out of nostalgia and/or guilt, or New York if they pulled off a miracle salary dump with Chandler or Anthony. Jeter had an 8 figure billboard deal in Manhattan in 2008.
