The new-look Wizards have the opportunity to achieve yet another milestone...beating the Spurs. A feat the Wizards organization hasn't pulled off since the 2005-06 season.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIJblVdMgRg!!

Another first for John Wall who's currently 0-5 versus San Antonio...

Side notes: Wizards shot an average of 41.2% in the five losses; John Wall has a streak of 31 games scoring in double figures.

Efficient games from Wall, Nene, and Gortat needed...

#WEVEARRIVED Go Wiz!!!

It's the season of getting monkeys off our backs. I would love to steal this one against SA and head into the AS break on a tear.

Last game:

Blazers - Wizards - 90-100
Spurs - Pelicans - 102-95

Wizards haven't beat the Spurs since 2005. SA were defending champions in that early season matchup at Verizon Center. Gilbert had 43 points and Duncan had one of the worst games in his career going 3-18 if I recall! Duncan also had a bad offensive game earlier this season when he was shooting putrid percentages from the field but Timmy is still himself averaging 15 and 10 in 29 minutes with a PER of 22. Defense is still good and blocking shots. We talk about Nene being old at 31... But Duncan is still effective and he'll be 38 soon.

Duncan and Parker were great last night and Danny Green on the perimeter helped SA last night. Splitter is back as well which helps their pick and roll defense. They really still miss Leonard and Manu has had a resurgent year after looking done in the finals.

Patty Mills has been ballin, I could see him going off.

If the Wiz win this game, then my eyebrows will be raised. Wall has to shutdown Tony Parker who has made Wall look silly in the past. No easy task.

Let's see if we are really ready to take the next step. I'll accept a competitive loss. San An has consistently spanked us.

Do you realize a win against SA means that in a very short period we have defeated the defending champions Miami Heat, 2 really good WC playoff teams in the Suns & Warriors, and the top 3 teams in the West in OKC, Portland, and SA. How crazy would that be? All combined with Wall making the All Star team, Beal making team USA, getting over .500 for the first time in a million years, and us returning to a top ten defenense. We are even on the 1st page of the Hollinger rankings........lol

I appreciate the pre game information on the Spurs, FAH.

A win will remove just about all doubt that the Wizards are for real. It would be nice if Seraphin can score efficiently again in a win. Gortat and Nene can be big this game.

The Wizards are going to be tested on the perimeter.

Duncan at Center with Diaw at PF and no Leonard at SF means SA won't rebound as well.

If Seraphin has Bonner on him, I could see him being able to post up but Splitter/Duncan can shut him down especially with how predictable he is.

The Spurs will make the Wiz shoot long twos as always. The Wiz can't settle for those.

I think their bench will have a great game.

It can't be done. The Wizards are metaphysically incapable of beating the Spurs.

I'm wondering how we beat this team in 2005.

But if ever there was a year, it's this one. We're heating up, our team is more talented than it's been in half a decade, and SA is a little banged up.

We must win and we will :)

one game for 4th spot. 3rd place in east is tough to achieve cause Toronto play very well.

Yeah, Gil had 43 points (15/20 FG, 4/8 3P, 9/14 FT). Also Duncan had perhaps the worst shooting night of his career going 3/18 from the floor.

Yes. we realize that. I personally have posted it about 5 times
As for Hollinger, we have been on page one for a week or so.

So the SAS. What to do ? They have had our number for sure. TA hasn't played well against them. They gear their defense to shut him down by running him off the 3 line and funneling him into the defense where his driving skill and rim finishing aren't enough.

Nene also hasn't done well against them.

Meanwhile on offense, they are always looking to get to the rim and if they can't, they kick it out and move it around the perimeter. Everyone plays smart. Everyone can shoot. They are a machine. And TD is timeless. Still posting great numbers.

Huge huge challenge for the Wizards. Just not sure what the formula would be that would work against them. Of course they need to play swarming team D for a full 48 and Wall really needs to have a perfect game both running the offense and attacking the rim. Using the PnR offense should help them attack the rim, but SA protects the rim well so you have to be able to get up to finish. On defense, they are tough. Wall can't stop Parker on his own and no one is stopping TD lately.

Pops is a master mind of adjustments which put us at a huge disadvantage because Randy hasn't been. Randy needs a good plan. You have to take something away. One approach might be to throw the kitchen sick at TD. Bully him. Put bodies on him. Use fouls by Ves and Kevin early. Specially Ves. His length and D skills and ability to steal the ball need to be worked into the game plan. And if they can feed him for some finishes at the basket, they might be able to draw some fouls in the paint. You need to attack SA in the post. Don't concede that space. On defense, they need to throw lots of bodies and looks at him. Then let Kevin punish Boris in the post.

If they just come out and play it vanilla with Nene and Gortat against Duncan and Boris, I don't know if they can close out on Boris quick enough or rotate quick enough when Parker drives. That's what starts their entire offense.

I think this is one of the those game where Randy need to do something different and unexpected. Do something like start Nene and Kevin. Really attack the rim. Lots of PnR going toward the basket. And he has to find some minutes for Ves. His length, energy and quick hands can help against a team like this. You have to get them off our perimeter players so TA, Webster and Beal can get some clean looks from 3.

This is going to be tougher then Portland or OKC
