NBA D-League to Implement Experimental In-Game Flopping Penalties

The NBA Development League will begin assessing technical fouls for in-game flopping, league President Dan Reed announced today. The technical foul penalty for flopping will begin to be implemented in games played on Thursday, Feb. 20, and will continue through the completion of the 2013-14 NBA D-League season.

Officials will be required to confirm all flopping calls on instant replay monitors

Better late then never but....

Look out Harden. Sticker roles on the way.

Interesting and thanks for sharing, but you like to point-out hands, we must have 3 or 4 D-League threads. I know, it's hard to keep those D-League threads a-float :-)

If this rule ever makes it to the big leagues, can you imagine?

Half the Clippers/Heat and Rockets teams would be suspended

I saw a nice interview during the DL All Star game with a DL rep. He said he was working with like 5 teams to add affiliates.

He said over the coming years... can't remember his number... something like 3-5 years, he said every NBA team would have an DL team and the NBA would increasingly being using the DL to test new rules and technologies. Just like this new Flopping Rule getting called during the game and then being reviewed on the monitor.

Funny. I started a thread on the general board after the Harden flop and suggested the do exactly this. Good to see the league thinking about continuing to make progress with the rules and the refs.
