"I went to the event hosted on Saturday for former STHs that featured a Q&A with Tommy Sheppard.
I asked that specific question, among others, and he said that they were going to move in that direction at some point (BS PR answer) but “what do we get out of our own franchise in the D-League we can’t already get from Iowa”. So yeah, there you go. They don’t even see it as possibly a benefit to install a true minor league franchise and implement a system of development (which point of Ted’s plan was that?).

Other interesting points from that conversation that are relevant to this post: Otto and GRJR are definitely going down to the D-League. He said expect them both to play anywhere between 10-15 games down there.

He also said that Ariza and Gortat would be back, which made me laugh out loud because it isn’t that I think that it’s impossible, it’s more that I think that he’s being presumptuous and behaving in the exact opposite manner you should if you’re trying to woo consumers back into the fold.

My favorite part was when he said that without a doubt Jan should’ve started in the NBADL and that they messed him up, thinking that he needed minutes in the NBA to develop rather than time working on skills."

Not a franchise altering move, but I think Eric Maynor really demonstrates a lot of the failures of the front office.
