Thanks for linking this Ji.

I read it earlier this evening and my jaw dropped... Especially when Wise talked about the young core, great reclamation projects like Ariza and Gortat AND all the cap room we'll have this offseason.

Holy factual errors Batman! Does this guy do ANY research?

One more month and Ernie will take "deserved" holidays on an aircraft carrier.

That looks like an example of someone who doesn't know how to write critically about people that he ever has to see again. What a total wuss.

Wise is a total moron. Really, Washington Post? If we resign Ariza and Gortat, we have no CAP ROOM! Does Wise even know about cap holds?

Why is he talking about making the playoffs as if that's some great accomplishment in the Eastern Conference this year? Wise sounds like a shill..

Why does Washington media, and I mean all of them, as well as Washington management, and I mean all of them, not seem to have a clue about how to design a championship team? I'm talking fairly basic stuff like you need a young, star big (or Durant) to pair with Wall before even the foundation of a possible contender is built. The media keeps pretending that AJ, or Blatche, or Gortat are foundational pieces that match-up with the greatest players in the game, instead of devising a plan (and contingency plans) to actually get one of those players. It's continual nonsense from our media (and many of our fans).

We wasted so many picks. We had a shot at, and several of us here have been screaming for years to draft, many of the bigs that will grow to take over the game (or have already). Our management seemed to think that wasn't that important, and seemingly still don't -- as we try to groom Seraphin into Hibbert.

Yes, I'm very glad this season is going well... And then what?

Oh good lord, what an abject fail of an article.

Wise must have been hard pressed to put down some lines before the deadline.

One time when I was sitting in traffic I was listening to Mike on the radio and he said something to the effect of...

"If Daniel Snyder were to individually sell all of the seats in RFK he would make lots of money because there are lots of Redskins fans who would want to own a part of Redskin's history"

Then one of his co hosts who is a Georgetown alum and a DC native said...

"No Mike. Daniel can't do that because all of the seating from the stadium's Redskins days were removed years ago"

Mike did not reply. He just sat there silent for several seconds with his mouth shut and did not say anything.

Easy answer - none of the writers were alive or around when Washington was last a championship city.

Unfortunately, it's all about expectations and perspective, and most fans and lazy media types like Wise are looking at it from the perspective of someone who's used to losing year after year. So being 3 games over .500 (whether or not it's in a lousy conference) seems like tremendous success to them.

Managing expectations. That's the strategy of Leonsis and Grunfeld. And as you can see by sheep... er EXPERTS like Wise, it's working.

I think this hits the nail on the head. I kind of equate it to a parent that has a kid getting all failing grades in school. All of a sudden, the kid gets all Cs and the parent is beyond giddy. But, in reality, a C is really nothing to get excited about and certainly is not going to take the kid anywhere.

I will also say this. There are a lot of Wizards fans out there, including many season ticket holders, that are just happy to have a "watchable" team, and either don't care or are clueless when it comes to what it took to get the Wizards to be average. Just the other day, I was talking to two different season ticket holders in the lower bowl, center section, and they were raving about how well the Wizards were doing and in particular, how much they liked Gortat. I told them that I also liked Gortat, but would not have given up a first round draft pick for him. They were like, "the Wizards don't have a first round draft pick this year?" I also told them that both Gortat and Ariza are FA this year and the Wizards were likely to spend all their cap room to sign them, and therefore it will be hard to improve this team beyond what we already have (which is average). They didn't even know that Gortat and Ariza were FA. I was beyond shocked that two different guys, spending $11,000 a year on season tickets, didn't even know these details. Unfortunately, these are the type of people Ted and EG have in mind when making decisions.

Shame on Wise -- not for expressing an opinion, but for being so ill-informed.

Ted has done a masterfully evil job of controlling the media in this town. He's got his network and because he hasn't liked the amount or nature of the coverage from local media, he's just marginalizing them.

You think it's bad now? Give it 5 years and wait until the games are broadcast on Ted-owned network, driving traffic to Ted-owned sites. You forget how small a minority communities like our are. More fans fall under the umbrella dandridge10 describes.

I was chatting with a friend the other day (before the WIse column dropped) and came up with the perfect Wizards slogan: "Decidedly Mediocre. Eminently Watchable." And this is what most people are satisfied with.

OMG what a nauseating read that was. Ernie & Ted must be breaking out the champagne early after that article. I have no hope now but to enjoy mediocre hoops now until Ernie retires.

People are defending Wise-less on twitter. One compared knowledgeable Wiz fans to Tea Partiers: "Great article... The Grunfeld-haters are like the Tea Party - loud, angry and very much in the minority".

It looks like an assignment an eight year old put together right before school.

Find it ironic that Wise goes ham on the Redskins ineptitude and not making the playoffs, but takes it lightly on the Wizards. I reckon the relationship Wise has with management dictates the tone of his articles.

Hmm, can we apply for our own tax-exempt 501(c)(4) organization, and then claim government conspiracy when we don't get it right away?
