At first, I was shocked to read that we weren't last. Then I saw the list of knuckle draggers below us -- Cavs, Pistons, Bucks and Knicks -- and it made a bit more sense.
However, the Pistons have won a championship under Dumars and the Knicks have hope with Phil.
Bucks? Yeah, well, they maxed out a couple of years ago (sound familiar?). And Cavs? Yeah, they stink.
If Ted were to stick with Ernie, I believe we'd be headed to 28th within a year or so.

The ranking doesn't just take into account the GM, they ranked Coach, GM, Owner, etc, and these are the averages they came up with.

I think we should take the optimistic route and be pleased that we can't fall that much further!

They're not looking at the current team on the court playing right now. What time frame are they using? They're not really fans. After EG's masterpiece completes its "learn to get better" phase, it will enter its "win" phase. It is written

Or they realize that despite being a play-off team and having some young players, the team is not constructed in a way to allow further improvement. All progress will be "loosed" due to the loss of draft picks and cap space.
BTW I do realize you are joking.

Their opinions don't matter since they aren't real fans.

Obviously the writer did not put in-place the algorithm of "Since Ted took-over" when ranking us in the bottom-5.

Cavs fired their GM.
Knicks just hired Phil... I'd move them up significantly off that move alone. He brings instant credibility.
Dumars is rumored to be resigning at season's end.
The only team below us that's keeping their front office intact is Milwaukee. And honestly I think they did a good job of doing a sneaky tank under Kohl who refuses to tank. Certainly John Hammond has done a far better job in the draft than EG (Antetokounmpo, Henson, Sanders).

Don't forget it's ranking owner/GM/coach. The superior qualities of Terd n Witt (kind of sounds like a country duo or a cop buddy movie) give EG ample cushion.

Sadly enough, certain Wiz fans think that's actually a legitimate reason to retain the current FO.

Should be a good read as they break it out.
Interesting to see SAC at 21. Not sure I agree with that.

McCallum, Thomas, Gay, and Cousins are each signed long-term and young. They have new ownership and fan support.
I can't say whether that makes them better, but at least the bulk of the team aren't free agents and/or old.

We're that good!?!?! This is a mistake! ESPN has no idea about anything. They have no idea how to judge poorly performing GM's, and give the benefit of the doubt way too much.

Interesting take. Maybe they are getting the a Shaquille O'Neal bump with dreams that he can help focus Boogie. They do have in interesting young core signed. Maybe they will start winning one day.
Are they going to be able to retain Isaiah Thomas ?
Do they have the right leader(s) ?
They look kind of interesting on paper by names, but I don't see a good team.

I wonder if they factored in whether or not the owners had restocked toilet paper and urinal cakes in the stadium johns? I fear they didn't take this into account
