WizBoard Arts Thread

Post#1 » by McFilthy » Fri Apr 11, 2014 1:45 pm

I searched and couldn't find a similar thread, but mods feel free to merge if one exists...

It has been six long years since the Wizards have been in the playoffs! In celebration of playing meaningful games in April, I commissioned an artist friend of mine to do some Wizards-inspired drawings.

There is hopefully more to come. Perhaps others might also share some Wizards-inspired art.

Tried to get his sneering grin. It's ok but I'm working in pen with only quick pencils.

He said it was simply markers on semi gloss laser printer paper.

Here is another submission from my artist friend - this one is a little more out there (I am down with him going with his artistic expression.) John Wall mixed with various musings and a DJ superhero character who finds himself inside the basketball...

Image

He said the markers he uses are good, but produce fumes. He is not sure whether the fumes help or hurt his creativity :D

I like how you show John Wall in motion Doclinkin. That's not easy to do with a 2D drawing.

Interesting how coloring over the ridges at the lip of the paper plate produces a good representation of Nene's pulled-back braids/dreads.

I must admit, I thought the Wiz would bow out in the 1st round too. Also glad to be wrong!

Nene Dunks Over Noah

Image

Another submission from my artist friend Matt from Columbus, OH. There is a lot going on in this one, but I will point out Nene dunks at the top with a dejected Joakim Noah laying on ground at the bottom uttering an expletive.

No idea. I just saw it on Twitter. It's in my timeline somewhere.
