BK Giving Us The 5th Seed?

Post#1 » by dlts20 » Tue Apr 15, 2014 6:29 pm

Ive always thought that its possible teams like Miami and BK are tanking for better matchups at this point and now even guys on the inside are saying it. I saw this on the Raps board so Ill post the link to credit them. Obviously still not set in stone as teams can still win or lose no matter the lineups but I would love to jump up to 5. Weve played well against the Heat and not so well against Indy but the Pacers struggle to score so Ill take my chances with them instead of Lebron. Feel free to merge

Do you even want the 5th seed?

Of course if you dont (assuming the Nets lose tonight), you still cant tank tomorrows game because if the Bobcats win and you lose, you are looking at the 7th seed and Miami in the first round......

Ill take it. I think most Wiz fans will take it because they rather play Chi than Tor but I dont. However, I think most Wiz fans also rather play Mia than Ind but I dont. To me it comes down to the #1 thing which is what team do you fear the most in the whole East. To me thats still Mia even though we have matched up great. I have alot of respect for them and I also know how the refs will call it. They are the biggest threat so put me on the opposite side of the bracket. If they were the 1 seed then I would want to stay at 6 but since they will be 2, Id rather be 5.

Doesnt matter though since it looks like NY will sit Melo & Amare anyways

again, there are people on here who truly think we matchup better with Miami then we do Toronto. Some rather play the Heat in round 1. I say Hell No......lol

Playing the Bulls would certainly give the Wizards some national attention, definitely more so than playing Toronto.

I prefer Chicago for that reason.

I can sort of get why a team would tank a game or two to move from 5th to 6th if they think the match up is better, but I can't figure out why Miami seems to want to lock in the 2nd seed when they still had a shot at the first. Miami should be thinking Eastern Conference Finals and home-court advantage, not resting their stars and getting a cupcake first-round match-up. Even with the Pacers playing so poorly, they'll be tough to beat in Indy. And Miami's homecourt advantage is pretty huge, too - why surrender it?

some think it was more about the 2nd round. BK has given Miami hell and they maybe fear them more than Indy

If the Raptors lose to the Knicks, the Bulls beat the Bobcats, and the Nets tank away... all of a sudden, Miami's matchups don't look as favorable because they'd have to deal with either BKN or CHI in the 2nd round as they shift to their bracket.

The Nets definitely want the Heat, Jason Kidd was a part of the last team to beat them 4 out of 7 (in that case 6)... and they swept them this year in close games...

If I were Toronto, I'd be upset that everyone is trying to game the system to take me on in the playoffs.

That would be locker room bulletin board material for sure.

Well, if the Nets are trying to give us the 5th seed they're doing it in terrible fashion.

Nets trail 67-83 against the Knicks to start the 4th. New York is missing Melo and Chandler has only played 5 minutes, while Brooklyn has played its full complement of starters.

If the Nets lose this game is Kidd going to rest the starters tomorrow, or will he run his vets into the ground to secure the 5th spot?

He'll rest them or only play them a half

They clearly don't want to win tonight

Because they are arrogant douches who are so cocksure they can beat teams on reputation alone that they feel they can turn the on/off spigot on wins at will. They are the Chosen, after all.

But the only homecourt advantage Miami has is that it's a party town and visiting players may give themselves 'flu-like symptoms' when they come into town staying up chasing tail and having lap dance tuesdays and all.

Nets 4-0 against miami
0-4 against the pacers

pacers
hawks
chicago
washington

Toronto
Brooklyn
miami
bobcats

perfect scenario for us and the nets...they play a young team like Toronto and play the heat who they haven't loss to all season
we play a bulls team we lost to 1 time and a pacers team who will be fighting with the hawks

Playing chicago gives us national attention especially if we beat the biggest fan base in the east...
Pay your beals....or its lights out!!!
Bron, Bosh, Wade is like Mike, Hakeem, barkley...3 top 5 picks from same draft
mike, hakeem and Barkley on the same team!!!!

Kind of hoping we play the Raps and not the Bulls.

Can you imagine the Bulls fanbase (and outsiders) if a John Wall led Wiz team beats a Roseless Bulls? Insufferable.

Then again Raps fans are already insufferable.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Chicago beat the Wizards down the other night, but I prefer them over Toronto and Miami. Nene at PF changes the matchup entirely. The Wizards are due to start hitting threes. I think experienced bench players are capable of bringing toughness off the bench over seven games. On the flip side, if the Wizards get swept that will bring about change at coach and, hopefully, change at GM.

I don't want Miami because it gives Ernie and Randy each a free pass and new contracts WHEN they lose that series.

I think Toronto will beat the Wizards. Wall's contract will be a dominating theme after that. He's not going to out play Lowry. The Wizards are mediocre and the Raptors are IMO clearly better. Their inexperience might hurt them but they matchup well against Washington. I prefer the Wizards get swept to losing in 7 games. Of course, I will be THRILLED if I am wrong, and the Wizards shock me by beating Toronto. Wittman will have earned a new deal and each of Beal, Wall, and Porter will have gained winning experience.
