Round 2, Game 1: SET THE TONE! Wizards @ Pacers 7 PM TNT 5/5

Post#1 » by FAH1223 » Sun May 4, 2014 12:07 am

YOUR Washington Wizards head into Indiana for the Eastern Conference Semifinal Round, a place not too friendly for the Wizards the past few years.

The Pacers have struggled the past couple months and won Game 7 at home vs. the Atlanta Hawks. They still play good defense but they are a turnover prone team that suffers scoring droughts similar to the Bulls. However, they have better individual talent with PG, Lance, and D West.

Keys to the game:

-Keep moving the ball, get great looks
-Protect the boards, Stop Stephenson on the offensive glass
-No turnovers.. ISO Ball is a turnover with this team
-Force turnovers and push the pace
-Make FREE THROWS
-PLAY WITH INTENSITY!

Also, #FireGrunfeld... still. For good measure.

My pick: Wizards in 4. lololol

Honestly, as long as we don't get swept, I'll be proud of the team. I think we'll give em a good fight and maybe win. It will be better than the last time we were here in 2005.

Nene has got to keep his composure for this series. David West is pesky, annoying, etc. so we can't let Nene loss his head. The NBA will obviously be watching him after the Jimmy Butler incident and won't be lenient if he has any transgressions.

There are no easy routes to something great. We deserve to be here and we can play with anyone right now. Lets get it

one thing the NBA better do is let those 2 play. Thats a big boy matchup. You have to allow more banging than normal

Which Pacer team will show-up? On paper, they win in 5 or 6 games.

We will know after Game 1. That's what makes this series so hard to predict. It's easy to give Indiana the benefit of the doubt being the #1 seed and winning their series in a dominating Game 7 performance, however we haven't really seen much of any consistency from them in a very long time.

Can we keep up with a Pacer team playing like they should? Probably. I don't think we win that series though, Pacers in 6 sounds right to me. I'd say Wiz in 6 or 7 if they aren't themselves still.

If we can take them to 6-7, I'll be satisfied

I don't expect us to win the series, but if we come out and take the first game on the road I'll probably get way too invested

I'm totally stoked about this series. This is the first time since I've been a young teen that I honestly think the Wizards/Bullets have an outside shot at the finals.

Sure its gonna be hard, but what'd you expect? It should be hard. This is a great test to see where our team is, but more importantly, its a real opportunity. Even if Indiana "shows up", I think we still have a shot. We'll have to play our best, but again, we should have to play our best to get to the conference finals.

EXCITEMENT HO!!!!!

The only edge they have on us really at the wings...

Hibbert has played like garbage before the ATL series

Nene and West are pretty even matchup

And in terms of coaching, Vogel hasn't impressed me to be honest.

But then again we have Wittman so...

I think when he said "on paper" he meant the Pacers of the 1st half of the season, at least that's how I interpreted it.

Yeah, that team isn't going to be showing up Monday night. That, I'm confident about.

question for Wiz fans. If someone had a crystal ball and said we are going to definitely win one of the first 2 games. Which one do you think it most likely would be?

As for game one, we are well rested so we should take game 1. On the other hand Indy is still in playoff mode while we are rusty and dont have that intensity so they should win. They went 7 with the Hawks and we went 5 with the bulls so we should win game 1 on confidence. On the other hand Indy played their best in game 7 and Hibbert found his game again while they are also on a 2 game winning streak so they should win game 1 on confidence. lol.......IDK. We just need to steal one of those first 2

I agree, but there's a chance they could at least a much better team than they have been lately, just not a great team. Like I said, we won't know until Game 1 what the Pacers are going be like now. The most we can discuss for sure until Monday is 1-on-1 match-ups honestly.

I do think Ariza has a big impact this series though, regardless of how the Pacers play...

Based on how Washington had no answers for Taj Gibson, I think Paul George will destroy Washington. Stephenson is better than Jimmy Butler. Nene won't dominate West or Hibbert.

I think Washington will lose in 5 or 6 games.

George has struggled vs. Ariza.

If anyone goes off, it will be Stephenson..

Won't we all be happy with my prediction being all wrong. :)

For Washington to win I think Gortat's going to have to score efficiently.
