2015 Draft Thread - Part 1

You know. It's never too early!

Hell I'm looking ahead to Thon Maker in a couple years.
I'm an addict but I feel cheated when we don't get get our proper draft day hype-up. Swapping out my man Stef Curry for a dumptruck full of... But not to re-hash you know there is still always hope!
Never know where we end up but I'm still looking at players who skipped this year's draft. Delon Wright needs a little work on his jumper but does everything else right:

Nice size to instantly slide in as John Wall's back-up giving us opportunity for that twin snake attack we had back when Larry and Gilbert were torching 'em up. Surround them with ranged shooters and we'd have an outside-in attack that would be tough for anyone to handle, and no drop-off if our franchise player was out of the game either healthy and resting or otherwise.

Local product Jerian Grant of Notre Dame shows the kind of improvement I like to see, FG% and 3FG% increasing, assists climbing, steals increasing, TO's dropping. I like him as a back-up PG as well.

Like Shabzz he's a player who has used college to improve his skillset and mature.

-And in a stunning turn of events the Washington Wizards have sold the 2015 1st overall pick for cash considerations. Ernie Grunfeld commented on the bold decision: "We went through our process and felt the guy we wanted the most wasn't on the board at the time and felt it better to acquire cap space to go after an established veteran to mesh with our young core that will fit our system better"

I love the moronic statement of "young core" for the Wizards. Who is our young core? Its basically Wall & Beal. You can put Porter, and to a lesser extent, Rice in there (but they haven't proven anything), but that's it for young core. WE DON"T HAVE A YOUNG CORE when looking at the roster. Its another example of how our CLUELESS local media refuses to challenge the incompetence of Baghdad Ted & EG the clown.

It's never to early to talk about the next draft. I wasn't impressed the 2 times I saw Okafor, but who knows how kids that age will develop or how hard they'll work. He's an enormous human being with excellent low post moves, but he's not a good defender or rebounder and didn't appear to be a good or willing passer. The player I was most impressed with in the McDonalds All-American game was Mudiay. He's like a slightly stronger looking John Wall.
I was pushing Delon Wright early last season. Even without a jump shot, he's an outstanding underrated prospect.

Yep. I liked his stats except the 3FG, but then you tugged my sleeve to him and I got to watch some of his gamesmanship. Kid knows what's up, an instinctual player, one of those baller-for-life players who will be playing no matter how old he gets or who the competition is, hence he'll tend to get better and better. He actually reminds me of a young Andre Miller in his court awareness and on-ball skill.

Sounds like next year's draft is going to be loaded with big men.

Hopefully we have a horrific season due to the players quitting on Wittman and no injuries to be used as an excuse.
We need to tank to get the organization changes needed to take the next level.

Hah! Actually the same thing happened the year we got John Wall, ditto Brad Beal, so you never know. It's a loooong summer my friend, it always is.
If you're posting in here bring content my friend, not complaints and boogeymen. Got any early picks? Frank the Tank Kaminsky? Wllie Cauley-Stein?

Nope just more of a hope addict when it comes to these Wizards, always looking for the antidote to ennui or frustration. I liked Gortat, but last year sucked having no pick, because our options on future opportunities are limited. Summers get looong and boring without topics, and this year we have nothing in particular that is new to anticipate going into Summer League etc. So it's either play Ji and instantly jump on the tank train, or bump the insults thread and talk about how hands claims he '"decided" never to have kids, which a) the world says thanks and b) as if he had any choice...
In Secret East Coast Vigilante hidden quote forum style, I say:
Like in hockey : Let me know if you want to go. Like I said it's a loooong summer. You want to be my topic? -.

This thread is setting us up for double -failure.
1. Getting our hopes-up that EG could ever have a good draft when he has to pick outside the top-3 picks
2. That EG/Ted would ever so anything besides sell or dump the 2nd round pick.

You're awesome. Where did you pull the me deciding to not have kids out of your ass from ?
As for me getting locked in the ball and chain, I had tons of ops since I was 16 bro. That wasn't an issue. Most guys are jealous I escaped. I'm the one telling them how blessed they are. Then they just role their eyes at me. Grass is always greener I guess.
Chris Rock said it best. Relationship. Or NP. NP does always put a smile on your face. That much is still true. Just have to keep it to the 3F rule. After that. They start asking where you are, who is she, etc.
So I get it. We need to manufacture some news.
We have plenty to talk about. The Booker thing is a hot topic. TA. Kev. Free Agency is just around the corner. Summer camp after that. The MIA opt outs. Melo.

Depending of course on where they pick and who's on the board, trying to predict that this far out...
My target as of now for Wizards in 2015 draft is Kaleb Tarczewski
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Kal ... wski-6290/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQdA9SxoG0cMy early impression is he is a near Gortat clone.

If Tarczewski is gone, and depending on where we're picking, another guy worth keeping an eye on could be AJ Hammons. More of a rim protector, 7 foot 278 with 7-3 wingspan.
However his effort and work ethic is highly questionable... "his fundamentals on this end of the floor are overall quite poor, as he can be extremely lazy in the way he approaches his work here, rarely getting in an actual stance, doing a poor job of contesting shots, and letting opponents blow right by him without any resistance".
"He lacks intensity here in a major way, showing poor focus and awareness and often being very late to react to things going on the floor. He seems to be stuck playing at half speed on most possessions, willingly giving up deep post position and putting forth a very lackadaisical effort fighting back against opposing big men leaning on him."
"Questions about his work ethic and intensity have plagued him since his early days in high school, and these type of motivational issues don't tend to disappear in the NBA. If anything, they usually become more noticeable".
Usually this type of evaluation will cross him off my list, but I seem to remember these types of comments being linked to Drummond before his draft... so you never know.
