i'm surprised...the 3.4 number fits him really well and he's worth it
maybe they really are gearing up to make a big splash in free agency...being this frugal isn't like ernie

I think they'd like to retain him around 3 mil per year for 3 years, which is quite frankly a good deal for us if we can pull it off. I'd still go after Jordan Hill and Patrick Patterson first, but would be perfectly happy if we could retain cook book.

It's got to me they have someone who they think is better in mind - and they better get whoever that is.

Agreed.
However, I expect you to violently disagree that it was wise to extend the QO to Seraphin.

Nah, they'll roll with Gooden at the minimum.

It also in a way saves Wittless from himself. Gooden was inexplicably benched for the home stretch of the season then showed in the Bulls and Pacer series that Booker can't sniff his jock strap.

You are surprised ?
I find it interesting. But I'm not surprised. Only reason I thought they might not do this is because it left them a fall back plan to sign him over the cap not using MLE money. But 3.4M is to much for Booker. He is a PF that can't defend well and is a mismatch problem in the post. His shooting got better. He even developed a nice face up post game. But the injuries. The defense. His size.
I'm not surprised. I actually expected it.
WOw. Says here.
http://www.csnwashington.com/basketball ... ying-offer If a player is picked between Nos. 10-30 and meets the starter criteria, he gets the same qualifying offer of the ninth pick in his draft class.
For Booker, that would be Gordon Hayward of the Utah Jazz who was taken ninth. Hayward is due a qualifying offer of $4.67 million.

Agreed, and that goes for Vesely, Seraphin, Booker, Singleton, etc - don't let the door hit you on the way out.

If I had to choose between bringing back Booker or Seraphin, I'm taking In-stant Offense...

I'd keep Seraphin and make a run at Jordan Hill or Patrick Patterson.

I could be wrong - but I don't think Gooden can play major minutes for an entire season at this point in his career.

I have it on a good source that they are talking to Ves and want to bring him back on a 2/4M deal.
