I assume the Deng interest would obviously only be if we lost Ariza. And there seems to be about 10 other teams lined up for Deng as well so Im sure someone would pay him more than we would. And I rather have Ariza than Deng.

I like Deng but not for this team. His lack of an outside shot would really hurt our offense.

I would prefer Ariza over Deng. If we lose out on Ariza, Ernie should go for a cheap replacement, not Deng.

Watch Ernie try to sign Ariza and Deng

I would rather have Marvin Williams on whatever his market value is then whatever Deng thinks he's entitled to. Deng is a championship contender killer. Wants to be paid like 2nd option but really is a 3rd/4th cause of his lack of range.

I think Marvin Williams has found a niche as a stretch 4, but he could play some 3 if necessary. If Porter earns minutes, he could get minutes as a stretch 4. If he Porter isn't productive he can play the 3.

Obviously Ernie has read the message board and seen most of you b*tching about Ariza's upcoming contract...so he found perfect work around to make ya'll straight sheet yourselves.

Remember this from Mike Wise:
Among the barbershop banter going around Verizon Center’s media room Wednesday night was the topic of which Washington Wizards small forward had to go in the offseason to avert a talent-and-minutes logjam: Trevor Ariza, Martell Webster or Otto Porter Jr.?
By the time arguments were made on each player’s behalf (given his age and upside, everyone agreed moving Porter after his rookie year would be downright foolish), it dawned on the half-dozen or so of us: We were talking about players who might have to leave Washington because of too much depth at their position. No one could remember such a discussion about a Wizards roster this decade.
Not So WiseJust a heads up that when EG successfully signs both Ariza and Deng, there will be defenders of the moves. "An embarrassment of riches," they'll say. "How can you have too much of a good thing?" they'll wonder. "These are great players. Are you just looking for things to criticize, or have you lost your mind?" they'll wonder. So on and so forth, etc., etc. Use your straight face now, cause you'll be laughing later.

Ok, I have to ask:
Rico -- do you think we should pursue and sign Deng? Come on now. Yes or no?
But keep this in mind: if you say "yes" and Ernie doesn't pursue him -- I'm going to remind you! Ditto if you say "no" and he does.
I'm going to get you to disagree with an Ernie move if I have to keep trying until the next decade! Yes, I am -- so... watch out!

Are you really making up complaints about positive reactions people here will give to the Wizards signing both Deng and Trevor A ?
Likelihood of this happening is ZERO
Likelihood of anyone on the board like this move ZERO

I would like to see a press clipping associating us to interest in PP.
In addition to the Clippers, free agent Paul Pierce has been contacted by the Bulls, Grizzlies, Mavericks and Trail Blazers.
Presumably the Nets have also contacted him about returning to Brooklyn, but it's tough to gauge Pierce's interest after a postseason disappointment and the messy departure of coach Jason Kidd. There's a good chance Pierce will wait to see where other key free agents sign before choosing where to spend one of the final years of his NBA career.

I'm afraid my friend, we don't have enough cap space left to do so.
