So happy about this signing. Always marveled at Pierce's game. He probably has the best footwork in the NBA.

WOW.

I thought this was a joke.

As someone that has suggested this many times over the last two years and many times recently in regards to Plan B if Trevor A doesn't sign to a short enough deal, I am clearly happy with the move.

Now that's a move that really takes the team to another level regarding credibility. Paul Pierce is a first ballet HOF player. Great warm up act to getting KD down the road.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11208 ... -year-deal

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... -$11M-Deal

Paul Pierce will sign with the Washington Wizards on a two-year deal at the mid-level exception for $10 million. The second season will be a player option.

----

Just last week he was looking for 9/10M a year.

And we got him for MLE

Goodluck guys! I am ready for another Pierce vs. LeBron battle in the playoffs. LeBron has always considered Pierce as his fiercest rival and rightfully so.

No need to mention what he has done for the Celtics. But just recently, he came through for the Nets as he made unbelievable offensive possessions and a clutch defensive stop to help the team get to the 2nd round.

I am sure he will be able to give your team the push it needs. His presence in the locker room and leadership alone would mean a lot for an up and coming team.

I'm not even mad. The writing with Ariza was on the wall as soon as Porter was drafted and Webster was given his deal.

Love Pierces personality in this locker room, I just wonder whether he has anything left in the tank.

pierce can still turn it on when u really need him to, which will be a great help whenever the rest of the team flatlines. and he's one of those guys who can really motivate his teammates to play hard. that will probably his greatest contribution to this team and its something we really needed

My starting lineup would be

Wall
Beal
Porter
Pierce
Gortat

With

Miller
Rice
Webster
Booker/Seraphin/Gooden
Nene

Off the bench

I can't wait. I think he'll be a great addition to the Wizards franchise. Wall, Beal, Nene, Pierce, and Gortat starting five. With Miller, Rice, Webster, Booker/Serpahin Gooden, and Porter coming off the bench. I like it.

I think he'll be able to revert back to his SF role here. Our defense might suffer a bit, but John Wall will get Paul easy open looks which he will BURY!

Maybe later in the season when Webster is healthy and Porter has figured things out, that lineup will make sense. But early on, I'm fairly certain Pierce is going to get the majority of his minutes at SF.

Agreed. Nene isn't losing his starting job either. Pierce probably starts at SF with Porter as the sixth man.

Great pickup for you guys. His game has aged remarkably well. Perhaps not surprising given that it's never been predicated on explosive athleticism, but even so. 13.5ppg and 4.6rpg last year on better than career-average shooting %ages.

Really just a perfect fit - solid veteran presence, high character guy, at a position of need, to mesh in with your up-and-coming youths. (Super reasonable contract to boot.)

Wanted him back in Boston obviously, but can't be mad at this move. Good luck next season.

I like Wall & Pierce lineups because PP is a deadly 3 pt shooter with his feet set.

I like Miller & Porter lineups because Miller loves throwing lobs and outlets and Porter runs the break on the wing very well and has the length to finish lobs.

But I REALLY like a potential Miller & Pierce lineup. So much old man game. They will be a joy to watch.
