"John Wall (19.3 PPG, 8.8 APG, 4.1 RPG) and Bradley Beal (17.1 PPG, 3.3 APG, 3.7 RPG) wall and beal
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT IN DC!!!! Almost as bright as Bradley Beal’s smile… so perfect. Have I mentioned I have a big NBA man crush on the former Gator? I was lucky enough to see him play in person at the McDonald’s All-American game in 2011 and instantly became a fan. The youth of this tandem is almost scary because of how good they already are. Beal, 21, can light it up from anywhere, and I mean anywhere, on the court. Wall compliments him perfectly as arguably the best “drive and kick” point guard in the league. Brad (he lets me call him that) is poised and on his way to becoming the best scoring two guard in the league, and at his current trajectory, he will get there soon. Wall, 23, has the talent and poise to be the top point guard in the NBA. His jump shot is improving every year, and few run an offense better than the Kentucky graduate. Don’t be surprised when he averages 20 points and 10 assists this season. Last year they put Washington on the map, and gave us spectators a little taste of what’s to come. I must say it again, the future is bright in DC. Not only did they beat “The Splash Brothers” on this list, but they also beat them for out for coolest backcourt nickname. The “House of Guards” is ready to become a perennial playoff team and title contender. So there you have it, the top 10 starting backcourts in the NBA for the 2014-2015 season. With every list, there is always some second guessing, and here are some of the duo’s that just missed the cut."

Don't give two sh*ts about anyone after No 1, but I digress. What are you looking for us to say? Like OMG Lowry is like soooo much better than Wall *screams*. Back to the Raptor board with you to jerk off with your northern butt buddies.
Wall sh*ts on Lowry all day everyday.

I can't agree with that list. I love Brad and John as much as the next guy but they have to up their efficiency this season in order to claim number 1. I think Curry alone makes Steph+Klay number 1 even though I think they aren't going to get much better from here on.
My HOPE is with the departure of Sam, Wall and Beal stop settling for long 2s, or simply get better at them. I'd also like to see Beal give more consistent defensive effort and John stop ball watching/roaming as much.

Haha I did not post this article on the Raptor board, if you read the comments you would know I was one of the few arguing that John Wall is the better player. I think Lowry is good and I respect his game, but Wall is soon to be elite and a much better overall player. So chill with that northern butt buddies sh*t

Curry and Thompson are easily the best backcourt in the league. Not sure how you rated Wall/Beal ahead but Curry is clearly better than Wall now and Thompson is a shade better than Beal.

Technically, Wall is a Kentucky alum, not a graduate because he left after his freshman year.
I think Wall and Beal could become the top back court this season, but they aren't currently better than Curry and Thompson IMO. DeRozan and Lowry might be better as a tandem too. It really depends on how good Beal gets this season, because right now, DeRozan is a good bit ahead of him.
Dragic and Bledsoe has the potential to be the top back court too IMO, but the Isiah Thomas deal and the lack of an extension for Bledsoe seems to be throwing a wrench in that.
I also think Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley is a very good back court tandem. If Rondo is out, then I think Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley could be a top back court too.

A healthy D WIlliams with his ankles cleaned up and Joe Johnson is a pretty powerful combo.
Wall and Beal might be it eventually, but there are lots of good back court combos.

For my money, Phoenix has the best backcourt by a sizable margin so I'm afraid I don't endorse these rankings as much as I'd like to.

It's crazy how many strong backcourt duos there are when you actually look at it. These past three years have been incredible for pgs/sgs

Phoenix backcourt is good on the Offense end that's it. I've never heard of Bledsoe or Dragic being elite defenders.

Expensive, but both are past their primes (with Williams being on the backside of his prime) and 'house of cards' front court.
They made honorable mention, but that may be their ceiling at this point of their careers.

I'd put ours as #2 right now but by this time next year they'll be #1. Beal is going to take that big step this year.

I appreciate the fandom, but I don't see any justification for proclaiming Wall and Beal as the league's best starting backcourt. Last year, they a little better than average together. If they both improve, they could certainly move up on the list. I could see placing them somewhere in the vicinity of 8-10 for next season. (In my stuff, they'd have ranked 12th last season.)

I would put Dragic/Bledsoe and Curry/Thompson ahead of Wall/Beal right now.

I don't agree with this. Thompson has looked underwhelming in both of his playoff outings so far, and Beal was definitively better than him playing against more established defenses and two of the best perimeter defenders in the league. Beal already has Big Game mentality, and that's just something that I've never seen out of Klay. Really not expecting Beal to regress at all from his playoff performance.

Not sure where the Wall-Beal backcourt currently ranks—I would say top five. I’m far more excited about our young backcourt’s potential. Two or three years from now I wouldn’t be surprised to see them having truly earned the ranking as the top backcourt in the NBA.

Last year the Suns were elite on defense with both Dragic and Bledsoe on the court.
DefRtg:
Dragic/Bledsoe 97.4
Wall/Beal 101.5

I thought Wiz backcourt was pretty average last year. Beal had a really good playoff run, but that masks the very ordinary regular season he had and the fact he was a below average starting SG. Of course, there's reason to be optimstic going forward, but before you become the best, you first have to become really good and the Wall/Beal combo needs to take that next step.

What would be really nice is if their play equaled the hype about them. It'd be a refreshing change.

You really think Beal was a below average starting SG last season? Can you name 15 that were better? He's top 10 in my eyes
