An Open Note to Wizard Board Members Re: EG Issue
An open note to members of the Wizards board.
I was perusing the Knicks board last night (feel sorry for them) and one post stuck with me a lot. In it, a Knicks board regular complained that other Knicks board regulars who would complain about Melo would get banned. But he wanted to complain about Melo's selfishness.
I don't know if he's now banned, but that made me think about our humble board.
We don't want to do that. We want to encourage the widest range of thought and expression. I thought about that Knicks board post and reflected on a number of PMs sent to me about the Ernie Grunfeld issue. Nowhere have I seen such polarization of opinions between camps. But the PMs have gone further -- asking for bans or suspensions of posters from both pro and anti Ernie camps.
Those bans or suspensions are not going to happen for posts that are regular posts of opinions -- even expressed with passion and, dare I say, aggressiveness. There is no dedicated set of group think talking points for posters to have to follow here. And nobody should expect such a thing. Just note that if you have an opinion, be prepared to be challenged on it by those with differing points of view and be challenged with passion and, dare I say, aggressiveness.
Our board is our board because you can say what you want. Because (hat tip to donkey) there's even a trolling thread where visitors can bad mouth the Wizards, the District, etc and do so safely and be re-engaged by Wizards board members safely. In short, there is no Ministry of Truth here.
That means, also, that you will -- from time-to-time -- encounter opinions and posters who make your blood boil. In those instances, please...PLEASE...make liberal use of the ignore button. Don't torture yourself. Be happy here.
Thanks for being on this board and thanks for your ear.
Sincerely,
Pine

Are people seriously asking people to be banned due to their perspective on Grunfeld? Ha! Love it.
I've always wondered what would happen to this board if the Wiz actually became a contender.

If you suffer from nervous erections lasting more than four hours, but you cannot remember why, you may have ADHED. Ask your doctor if Fluffera is right for you.

The solution is already available. The filter.
I started using it more last season and it definitely makes the board more readable. I don't get into as many of those heated back and forth arguments now.

Grunfeld does not deserve the hate. It has nothing to do with being a Grunfeld supporter. You enjoy watching the team he's put together then you have essentially given him your approval whether or not you want to admit it.

One good offseason does not erase years of incompetence. I can be happy about what he did this year and angry about what he put us through for years. They are not mutually exclusive.
