GT #40: Nets @ Wizards 7 PM (CSN/99.1 FM) [1/16/15]

YOUR Washington Bullets are 27-12! Good for #2 in the East so far

Your Wizards are coming off an impressive back to back slate where they finally defeated the NBA Champion Spurs and then beat the rival Bulls at Chicago for the 5th consecutive time

What's been lost in all of this winning? It seems this kid is missing:

Image

Otto Porter has lost his job :nonono: and will probably not be seen for a long, long time. The #3 pick of the 2013 draft has been benched because of his age (21) and his lack of jacking up 3s.

Their next showdown is with the struggling Brooklyn Nets. These Nets will be without the services of Deron Williams once again but they should have the return of KG after his one game suspension for head butting Dwight Howard. It is Lionel Hollins first year on the job and he has benched Deron Williams in support of Jarrett Jack who has played much better in recent weeks. Brook Lopez was also benched but started the last game vs. the big front line of the Grizzlies. We could see both Nets centers starting again on Friday night.

The Nets currently are the 8th seed in the East while they sit 7 games under .500 at 16-23. This is also the first game of a home and home back to back between both clubs.

Can the Wiz avoid a letdown against a potential 1st round opponent?

I literally have no idea who their starting SG is. He looks like a waiter.

Is KG back from Fight Club this game?

The Nets are certainly one ethnically diverse NBA team. Not a " nothing but Africans" team. Plenty European descent players who are legitimately talented.

(I jest a lot but in all seriousness I think white players are generally discounted, marginalized, and underrepresented on most NBA teams. Nate Wolters would have been better for Washington than Glen Rice--he's a good player.)

The Nets lack the team speed that gives us problems. I think the only way they can beat us is if they get hot from 3.

Nets are for sale- anyone have $1 billion in loose change floating under their sofa cushions?

Scary thing is, apparently that would make up for less than half of the $2.5 billion that Prokhorov lost over the last year from the ruble crashing against the dollar :o .

Poor guy only has $10.8 billion left to his name.

The Nets are sneaky, could be a trap-game loss for us.

Mason Plumlee is playing well for them, averaging 15 and 9 in just under 30 min a game in the month of January.

That's some good production from the 22nd overall pick in a weak draft.

I haven't had a single issue with Porter's play this season. His PT has been haphazard, and more often than not when given the opportunity, he has played great. Furthermore, there hasn't been a single time when he's in the game that I'm screaming at my TV to bench him...unlike Seraphin.

I have 4 thoughts.

1- Beal was like the worst defensive player in the league seemingly when he first came back but he's been great lately.

2- Pierce after a slow start has been awesome over the last 11 games. He's started slow a bunch in his career but then takes off. In the last 11 he's shooting ke 57% from the field and 50% from 3. He's on fire right now and averaging like 18ppg per 36.

3- I dont like Web taking Otto's minutes but people are ripping him too hard for his bad play. He;s flat out rusty. He doesnt suck. You cant miss all that time and come back like your in mid season form. He will get better but he haas to play to find his rhythm.

4- This b2b is scary and I could see us droppinf one if we arent focused. Again it may come down to Wall. He usually plays well adainst BK butt this is not the Kidd system and he's not going against Williams. Wall usually does well against big pg's but Jack is tough and crafty. If we arent ready then we could have 2 close battles and maybe drop one like we did against the C's

Ha! I was so busy laughing at "Best team in New York" that I ended up clicking it, then immediately thought, "What fool clicked that?"

Another great thread, FAH1223.

I'd like to see us really throttle the Nets. Work them on both ends of the court to the point were they just want to hit the showers. Lets hope KS keeps up his improved play.

Are we sure Brook Lopez is playing? He's involved in trade rumors and I wouldn't be surprised if they hold him out.

Hopefully we get to face their skeleton squad for the next two then, if there's any truth to the rumors they've got a major trade in the works.

Interesting notion. That's the first time I've heard you mention this.
