Dude is balling out of his mind, and if memory serves, Whiteside is YET ANOTHER 2nd round pick level guy that CCJ was jocking hard a few years ago when he came out.
CCJ, in my opinion over the years you tend to have a lot of misplaced love for a lot of guys, and a lot of dislike for some others, many of whom were high picks for our team.
But have you ever fumbled a second round steal? None spring to mind.
When are you joining staff?

Whiteside was discussed quite a bit on the board here, CCJ & more so Dat were supporters of drafting him.
Unfortunately, he probably would have never played or developed during his rookie contract here. The Kings had Whiteside in the D-League full-time and still didn't see any returns.
Some of the discussion then. Once again, guys on an internet board are better evaluators of talent than the Wizards FO.

Another guy who if he comes out is lottery-bound and underrated: Hassan Whiteside, had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 blocks today.
Yep, I compared his stats to McGee at the same age (McGee's soph season vs. Whiteside as a frosh) a few weeks back. Whiteside clearly looked like a better prospect and had superior numbers across the board (especially rebounds & blocks). His shot blocking skill is incredible, his blocks per 40 are off the charts.
If Whiteside puts his name in the draft, he'll definitely go top 10. Maybe even top 5.

It seems going overseas had him mature a lot.

It is funny, in Sac - he just wasn't physically ready for the NBA. Perfect 2nd round pick to stash overseas - in hindsight.

No way he would have developed here. They would have cut him midway thorugh his 2nd year.

Fwiw, I was pushing for him when the Wiz were going after old guys like Butler and Lucas for the 15th roster spot. Anyway, he wasn't ready mentally when he was came out for the draft. I think he was cut by one of the foreign teams he played for. Now, he appears to be more than ready. He'll be an RFA next offseason, so he's going to make some money. It'll be interesting to see how big the money will be.

I liked Whiteside, looked incredibly fluid for a guy his size, but it's obvious he wasn't ready to be a pro.
He's making the best out the chance he got with the Heat, let's see if he can sustain that momentum and act like a grown up for more than a few games, or half of a season.

Funny that there was a Larry Sanders on steriods (instead of weed) just sitting around waiting for an opportunity to be called up.
I was his biggest fan a few years back... Whiteside looks like what Javale would look like if he actually treated his ADHD.

I hadn't created YODA in Whiteside's draft year, but if I'd had it up and running, I'd have had him rated as a lottery pick. He had basically the same overall YODA score as guys like Otto Porter and Steven Adams.

Ahhhh, but you see we were way smarter, we locked-up Garrett Temple to a 2-year guaranteed deal. We've got Garrett Temple locked-up.

And it's extremely unlikely that Hassan Whiteside would ever be half the player Temple is.
(Think about that one a sec.)

Wow. Nice move by Miami. I didn't realize it was a 2-year deal.

This site
http://www.spotrac.com/nba/miami-heat/hassan-whiteside/ says he's an RFA in 2015, but it's probably wrong.

Acceptance of what ?
A 2nd round pick that floated around for a while who eventually did enough work and lucked into a good opportunity that is working out for him.
Yeah. I think I can expect that pretty easily.
The bigger question is.... Will Solomon Alabi ever show up again ?

Just happy Lebron isn't still in Miami - it would be ugly

No, give Dat credit for Whiteside. But to answer you, only Deonte Burton, this season. He went undrafted but failed miserably in summer league and training camp tryouts. I cannot recall missing on a second rounder. I also usually pick undrafted players like Marquis Daniels right.
Yes, I do recall discussing him when he was at IIRC Marshall. Yes, he was a no-brainer for Washington to sign.
dangermouse, this does reemphasize the point that talented players ARE out there. I would MUCH RATHER HAVE WHITESIDE THAN 39-YR OLD RAY ALLEN.
Nene, Gortat, Seraphin, Gooden and Blair CANNOT DO WHAT WHITESIDE JUST DID. Triple double with blocks in less than 30 minutes.
Ironically, Javale McGee last had 12 blocks back in 2011. (Healthy McGee can do what Whiteside did. McGee on This Wizards team would be dangerous in a good way, if not for his salary)
Thanks for the positive shout out. (Too busy getting sudden attention from Wahines recently, or I would have responded sooner.

)

Is Whiteside going to be an URFA or a RFA when his contract expires in 2 years?
