GT #52: Nets @ Wizards 7 PM (CSN/99.1 FM) [2/7/15]

YOUR Washington Bullets are 31-20 AND REELING. The last time they played these Nets, they were 27-12! Good for #2 in the East. But now they have gone 4-8 since the epic blowout loss to the Nets at Verizon Center on January 16th.

The team has lost five straight games and will be dropping in the standings as the Cavs look unbeatable and the Bulls will probably regain their form. The Wizards have fatal flaws that are now being exposed with the grind of the season reaching to the All-Star break and the last 30 games.

What are those flaws? A crappy offense leading to turnovers, bad spacing, ball sticking, unimaginative, and inconsistent. No threes, no free throws, no aggression!

We might need to rev up the tank. It may be the only way for Leonsis to #FIREGRUNFELD and #FIREWITTMAN. The worst GM/HC combo in the NBA and I don't say that lightly!

What a night.

MIN over MEM :o :o
IND over CAV to end their long winning streak :o :o
NO over OKC - AD on a double clutch 3 to win the game :o :o

ATL over GSW - Man .. those Hawks

SAT

Bulls vs NO in NO
Net vs WIZ in DC
BOS in MIL
CHA in PHI

That's it for our conference standings

I win against BRK could help them get them back on track. TOR beat LA Crappers tonight but they still have a really tough schedule over the next 10 or so. TOR vs SAS up next and SAS is starting to warm up. 8-2

By tomorrow night, we could be 1 1/2 over CHI and 2 back to TOR and only 1 1/2 behind them after they lose to SAS

Jack back at home means he plays well while Wall also doesnt seem to like to go hard at his friend in Jack for some reason. We should win with the way they play big ball but if they go small like they did against the Raps then I hope Witt goes small also. I want bank on it though

Check out Steinberg's piece on WaPo site.

Nice job. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc- ... they-were/
But really, instead of knocking fans for panicking, maybe the message should go to Wittman - who has been overwhelmingly negative in his comments about the team's efforts during the losing skid.

It will be a great day when Steinberg starts to write about bowleggedness, thick trunks and muscle grabby.

Kevin is the GOAT Wizboard poster. Not even a question about that as far as I'm concerned. He's the Anthony Davis talent and the rest of us are just the best we can be. That guy's able to be unemotionally objective with breadth and depth on a range of topics. He's a stat monster who also writes very well. I don't know too many more here who I would concede are way smarter than I am, but that guy definitely is. I am sure some of you are, but I wouldn't concede.

From the Steinberg article, I do see one thing that's encouraging:

The Wizards played the NBA’s top 14 teams — judged by current SRS — just 10 times during their 21-8 start; they went 4-6 in those games (and 17-2 against the weaker teams). They played the top 14 teams 13 times in their next 21 games; they went 4-9 in those games (and 5-3 against the weaker teams). But in their final 31 games — starting Saturday against Brooklyn — they face the top 14 teams just 12 times.

Great. In the current Sky is Falling trend, I still would project them to go 5-9 against the top teams and around 11-6 against the rest. Conservatively projecting 16 and 15 the rest of the way still will results in a 47-35 team.

The team still could muster 50 wins.

AT WORST this team will manage 45 wins ... barring a complete and total meltdown. The absolute BEST this team can win IMO is 52 games.

My best guess is expect a 48-34 record.
