27:00 if anyone wants to listen to some nice talk on the Wall and Beal combo.
This team chronically over-achieved at times in the playoffs and upset opponents. Remember, the Wizards franchise won 1 playoff series between 1982 and 2014.
"In 2014, the Wall and Beal combo make their debut, they smash the Bulls, the tough as hell Bulls. In 2015, they sweep the Raptors, humiliate the Raptors, almost caused massive organizational change in the Raptors, and they're 2-2 with the Hawks until John Wall breaks his wrist, the 60 win Hawks. In 2017 they beat the Hawks, then they go to game 7 against Boston in the 2nd round. All I'm saying is those dudes showed up and I can tell you that the teams ahead of them in the standings did not want to play John Wall and Bradley Beal. When Wall was Wall, they elicited fear and respect even in teams above them in the standings. Cleveland with Lebron laughed at the Raptors, they laughed at the Celtics, they didn't laugh at the Wizards."
Pretty high praise from Zach Lowe on the Lowe post.

Zach Lowe had some fairly high praise for Thomas Bryant in that podcast too.
Howard Beck was basically saying that Beal would leave because the Wizards' roster is garbage. Zach replied that Bryant is a legitimately good offensive player and that he liked what Hachimura was evolving into. And he praised Bertans, of course. He ultimately concluded that the Wizards are probably battling Atlanta for the 8th seed, and the 7th seed was on the table because something was bound to happen to one of the top 7 teams that would cause one of them to drop unexpectedly.

Yeah, it's become fashionable to bash the talent level on the Wiz, but looking at the roster - it's not bad at all. Add to the names mentioned - TBJ, Avdija, and Bonga. Assuming good health, this is a very capable team. It just needs more defense.

And seasoning. This team is mad young. Hard to say where they end up given the youth. 14 players in training camp with going on 3 years experience or less.
Beal, Bertans, Lopez, Ish, Westbrook, Neto, are the only players with any time in the league. Much less playoff experience. Or time on a winning team. First you win then you get good.

Wall is looking really good in the early stages of the 1st quarter in his first preseason game tonight against the Bulls.

Wall looks fast and good. 2 driving layups with ease. Just classic stuff from Wall, right to left crossover with super speed. Killing the Bulls so far. Wall is 30, I hope he is one of the rare exceptions to overcome the achilles.

Obviously don't want to overreact to pre-season, but Wall looks like he can still get to the rim at will.

He said in a recent interview that he's still the fastest guy in the league.

Bro Otto looks huge. Not sure he can guard 3's at that size.
Edit: Wall has lost nothing athletically. However, some of those bad habits are back too . He's absolutely dying on screens just like in DC.

Yeah he seems active on defense but the bad habits are still there.

John Wall tip in, with announcer saying, “Wow! John Wall. Good energy there.”
I don’t know...
Am I the only one thinking I don’t know about the trade?

Bye bye Beal.

I don't know how much I like the Bulls front court. Soft and the offense doesn't make up for it. Team plays like they don't like basketball or something. No energy.

Wall looks good athletically. Still as lazy as ever on ball screen defense.

Now that would be a solid 8th seed 1st round loss

I hope Cousins lasts the season. He moves like he weighs 500 lbs.
