season ticket renewals?

I just looked at the renewal invoice for next year. My tickets have gone up
about 50% since last year (2600->3900 pair). Very questionable as to renewing. Been a planholder
for 5 years...love my seats. They used to be a great value. Past tense.

Ted showing us what he means about living a "double bottom line life".

I think quite a few folks are at the crossroads, its such piss poor timing to send out the invoices when the team is really struggling. My dad's jumped from 4800-7300. He told his rep that he'll renew when Wittman is gone and he'll buy another pair if Ernie gets canned. One of my good friends has 400 seats row A and he said his raised dramatically. What is Ted doing?

bottom line of his balance sheet. checks it twice.
Ted King Jr. (my new name for him, hopefully it catches on) is a moron. Earth to Ted: You can raise the prices when you actually come out with a good product.
I havent gone to a game in years. Much better to DVR it, crack open a 1 dollar beer, and fast fwd the commercial breaks.

My tickets jumped from $10,920 to $12,600 ($20 per seat). I am in the Center Section Lower Bowl. I have been a season ticket holder for 20 years. I was very close to cancelling my tickets last year because of EG, and am even closer this year with the price increase. I was able to sell about half of my games this year (with some quite above FV), but it is going to be harder next year with the price increase. I don't know if I want to take the risk of not being able to sell half the games, particularly when I see no change in the Wizards future until EG is canned.
All I know is that I better never hear Ted complain about our stadium being full of opposing fans. With the Wizards making it too expensive for individuals to own season tickets, most fans will have to sell games to finance the added cost or just give them up, leaving them to corporations and organizations that just give the tickets away to people that could give a lick about the Wizards or to opposing fans.

I still remember the Leonsis quote which basically stated that 'the only reason for a management change would be if attendance slipped'. Unfortunately, that quote which was in a bulletsforever interview a few years back, has apparently been whitewashed from the internets.

Reading all the ticket hikes and I'm like "yikes"! If Ted's going to do that, hopefully he won't sell off any more picks.

I renewed my tickets. I'm also a C select STH. The value of our tickets is definitely gone. I'm paying way more than I was paying last year. I was able to sell my tickets this season; if that changes next season I won't renew. My friends who are Caps ticket holders told me this would happen 5 years ago. I don't care who I sell my tickets to at this point...only fans of other teams are willing to buy the tickets anyway.

This will be interesting. I'm sure they decided on the price increases when the team was riding high back in January. The combination of team performance and price hikes might cut into renewals. I think that would be an important factor in Ted deciding to make a change at GM.

the clincher for me is that I'm down to no regular partners to go to games with. My older daughter left for college
last year. My younger daughter will be gone for next season. I was able to sell tickets and make out well this year
when I couldn't go. It looks like it's time to say goodbye. I can buy a GREAT true oled TV with the money I'll save.

Noworries, where are your seats? I am in Section 111, row L.
I haven't renewed yet and probably will wait until the last second to make a decision. Ultimately, I probably will end up renewing, but give up the tickets after next year if I have a hard time selling at least half the value of the tickets. The other option is to find another season ticket holder that might be willing to sell me 5-7 games at cost.

Bro, I used to be in 111, row G or H. You probably sat RIGHT behind me.
If only we had a REALGM handshake to identify ourselves.

Honestly, the worst thing to happen to this team was our amazing(ly lucky) start to the season. It gave both Leonsis and every casual Wizards fan the idea that we were this powerhouse team and can continue to be if we just do X or Y or Z differently. Of course, we're not a powerhouse nor a potential powerhouse team but because of our start, I can't see attendance or season-ticket-renewals slipping much.

I have two tickets, section 100 row E on the aisle. The area is nice. There is a couple next to us and a older couple who have four tickets in front of us...that have had their tickets since the Abe days. Most of the people in 100 are MUCH older than my wife and I (we are that young..."we need to do something couple". The ONLY reason why I've kept the tickets is that I have lower aisle seats, which are hard to come by. Otherwise I would go to the secondary market in a heartbeat. I don't think season tickets are a good value vs the secondary market. I tried selling a lot of tickets this season, just because we have a little one to take care of.
If you decide to sell your tickets...I have zero issues with selling you or anyone on the board...games at cost. For example, I probably won't go to the Portland or Memphis games this month. Also, I'm not going to buy playoff tickets and a protest against this team. I'm not going to pay inflated prices for a first round sweep. I'll just get pissed and Ted will get my money...so there is no need to purchase the tickets.
