Randy Wittman and Ernie Grunfeld have completely taken the joy out of of being a fan of the Wizards. I just cannot understand how there is anyone on the planet who can't see just how bad a coach Wittman is.

Yet, for some odd reason - perhaps all the socialism has begun to play with their heads- our friends from north of the border think that Dwane Casey is a bad coach. Heck, bad coach? He's got Wittman's record beat.

Weigh in -- but don't just be a "homer". Really think it thru before voting. And be honest, 100% honest.

Who is worse, Witt or Casey?

I voted Randy because:

1. His answer to every problem: "We just gotta play harder".
2. His slavish devotion to the Flip Saunders long 2 offense.
3. His lack of thought in adjusting rotations -- he coaches like a Nintendo 64k borg.
4. His inability to draw an end-of-game out of bounds play.
5. The other team goes on a 20-0 run? Who needs a timeout? We just gotta play harder.

Ernie Grunfeld.

I voted Casey because:

1. His answer to every problem: "We just gotta pound the rock".
2. His slavish devotion to the DeMar DeRozan long 2 offense.
3. His lack of thought in adjusting rotations -- he coaches like a Nintendo 64k borg.
4. His inability to draw an end-of-game out of bounds play.
5. The other team goes on a 20-0 run? Who needs a timeout? We just gotta pound the rock.

The similarities are uncanny.

Casey once argued with the ref that it wasent Raptors ball when the ball went out of bounds in a close game. Enough said.

Sweet. Did he really do that? What was the context?

Can't remember the opponent. But it was a close game in the 4th and Jonas fought for a rebound against someone and it went out of bounds. The ref called Raptors ball. Casey is then seen yelling at that ref and pointing to the monitors for a replay. Now some would assume that he wants a foul call or something. But our commentator who is close to it goes... "WTH is Casey doing?" which lead people to believe that he was arguing against that call. Bacause even fans know refs can't give fouls on replays but can overturn possessions. And considering that Casey doesent seem to like Jonas, he probably felt that Jonas didn't deserve a call to go his way.

See all of those funny raptors sigs floating around? Most of them about Casey? Believe it not, some of that stuff actually happened.

Yeah, that's pretty horrible.

But as bad as that is, that Randy is a worse coach should tell you just how bad Randy is.

You Raptor fans don't know how frustrated has made just about EVERYONE on this board. I bet at least one or two Raptor board fans are okay with Casey, I can't think of anyone who's good with Wittman.

For their overall tenures, Casey is worse simply because Wittman did end up winning a playoff series, although if Casey beats Wittman in the playoffs, which seems to be favored by Vegas, that could negate that fact.

If there was ever a coach I wanted less than Casey, it is Wittman.

It's the fact that Wittman dogs our players on defense and repeatedly says "our offense is not the problem" when, if he had even a rudimentary understanding of advanced statistics and the desire to enter the modern age of basketbalk analysis, he'd instantly see that we're a pretty damn good defensive team and one of the worst offensive teams in the league.

But I guarantee you that he would instantly point to our respectably fg% as evidence that our offense is fine. Ugh.

Wrong thread

I can't think two fanbases that hate their coach more than Wiz & Raps. Both these guys should be fired, and the loser of the series almost certainly will be. Beating the freaking Raptors in the first round is not some great accomplishment. You think KD wants to be coached by this guy??

This was the very same day he did an interview and basically condemned Jonas, saying he is always ''half step too late on defense''. Hours from that quote, this game happened, Casey benched Jonas for Gray in the forth (as usual), and this happened. I thought it was very ironic.

I don't know Casey well enough to give a complete eval on him. He seems smart enough from post game interviews.

And until last game, he had Randy's number. Which wasn't all that hard to dial. Randy would keep throwing the same big slower line ups at them trying to win 2 pts at a time, Casey would go small and beat him. If its not broke, don't fix it.

Now Casey starting Hansbough.. that was a mistake in my book. He conceded to match our size allowing Randy to do nothing new to adjust while gaining an advantage. But then Randy played more S4 later in the game which was an adjustment to TORs past advantage... Randy wins that round and we won the game. Even with terrible shooting nights from Wall and Beal.

Now we have to see what these two do this next game.

Casey has been the better coach because Randy made that easy for him. But now that we are in a playoff series, the answer to this question is about to be revealed in greater detail. It won't only come down to who wins. That would be an easy way to evaluate it. It will be a big part of it, but Casey could coach better but just not have enough fire power to match the Wizards in playoff basketball. That could be the case. We will see.

I need this playoff series data first. That should make ranking them a lot easier.

Randy has his strengths. Its just his weakness have greatly minimized them. Randy has it in him to be an above average coach. He just has to be more accepting of learning new things while maintaining his core focus on defense. Not sure to what degree he delegates or excepts input but that might be the answer. Bring in a great offensive mind and focus on just being HC while focusing on defense. Let an offensive mind design that side and integrate the two. If he did that, I could tolerate him another year. But an elite HC would clearly be the best option.

Say what you will about him but Randy Wittman is the first coach in NBA HISTORY to win 6 of his first 7 road playoff games.
