NBA owners are simply not to be believed when they talk about the profitability of the business. What they said during the last round of CBA negotiations about the league's profitability was either completely false, or evidence that they are (as a group) staggeringly bad at business. Their core argument then was that they were losing money because of player costs. Yet, player costs were a FIXED percentage of designated revenues (BRI). They even had the players pay 10% of their salaries into an escrow account to guarantee salaries couldn't exceed the designated percentage.
And, as that Deadspin article points out, what's covered by BRI is 20 years old.
The owners are full of ****.
