The draft is less than a week away, who are your Top-5 picks at 19 and who do you think the Wizards will pick and why?

@ Pick #19 the team obviously hopes to get a useful role-player and talent infusion, here's my take (assuming obvious top picks are gone)

1. Bobby Portis
2. Kevin Looney
3. Justin Anderson
4. Rondae Hollis
5. Jerian Grant

Pick 49 - Available PF/Center (Best available)
Undrafted SL pick-up - Dez Wells

Wizards pick - Jerian Grant or BPA SF

The Wizards take the most NBA ready player who might conceivable get minutes with Randy. I suspect Randy would give Temple/Session minutes to Grant and the teams back court is up-graded.

I feel like one of Portis, Frank, and Lyles is going to fall to us, if im wrong I am ok with either Grant or Looney. I would be fine if we really liked Dez and really liked his work out, (plus hes good buddies with John wall) so they they take him at 48. I love Christmas and I like Holmes, I think both could be steals at 48. David Kravish is interesting, Good size, plays good D, need work on offence but has the potential tools to develop something good. It all depends on how bad he wants it. Kevin Pangos is the same thing, he's going to have to be one of those guys who make it because of his will to do so. He has good natural 3PT range. and he is a solid passer with good BBIQ. he has a good defensive mind set and he has active hands making him a solid pick pocket threat. He won't score a lot at the next level, but he will hit his 3's at a good clip, make passes, create for teammates, and play hard on D.

Everyone good will be gone by 19.

EG is picking Jerian Grant, and it will be worse than ever.

Jerian Grant is a really good player. if he was 2 years young with his production and skills he would be a top 10 pick. But because he is 22 people are sleeping on him. I feel like a couple of good guys are going to fall for similar reasons. We are going to get a good player this year, lets just relax and stay positive. Let's also hope we get a second first round pick. A Kaminsky/Portis/Lyles and Grant/Anderson/Vaughn First round would be pretty nice if we could some how swing that.

But he's not two years younger. He's actually 23 (will be by training camp anyways). He's older than Beal and Otto, and he's had a fairly marginal college career. Seniors sometimes do translate, but those seniors were often dominant in college. Grant was not dominant. I fail to see what Jerian Grant brings to the table over someone like Shelvin Mack or Jarrett Jack. He'd just be a body on a cheap contract. If you're gonna take a senior point guard, I'd rather the team take Delon Wright. He's better in pretty much every way.

But Ernie isn't going to look at the numbers. He's going to draft local kid and Bullets Legacy.

You can make a case for Wright over Grant, but it's not like grant is a terrible player. There is nothing wrong with drafting a local kid when he is a pretty decent player. Delon Wright is not that much better in any category than Grant. A % or 2 here or two here or a few points there. Hell I would be fine wit waiting till the second round and drafting Kevin Pangous or Dez Wells. but I don't think counting out Grant because he is going to be 23 is very fair. The guy has talent, is mature, and at 19 if a lot of bigs are off the board, would not be a bad pick.

Wright was one of the best perimeter defenders in the NCAA last season, and while Grant has similar physical attributes, he really wasn't that great of a defender. The only thing Grant does better than Wright is pull-up mid-range jumpers, which I could care less about on a team with enough shot jacking between Wall and Beal as it is, or anyone in the NBA really not named Chris Paul, Steph Curry, or James Harden (This list of people who can score more than 1 PPP in this category is pretty freaking slim). Wright was simply more efficient in all facets of the game. He plays within himself and doesn't make dumb plays despite posting a comparable to usage to Grant, playing with the same talent level, and playing pretty much the same SOS.

If you guys want an ISO guy that badly, y'all are barking up the wrong tree. Should be looking at Vaughn or Harvey.

Hell, you can get that with Tyler Harvey. Why is he ranked 55th on DraftX ?

I predict the picks Jerian Grant and Mohammedou Jaiteh. (If not Jaiteh, then Arturas Gudaitis just sounds like an Ernie pick).

My draft sleepers are Looney, Richaun Holmes, Clifford Alexander, Terran Pettway, Dakari Johnson, and Joe Young. There are some REALLY GOOD PLAYERS who are going to go in round two. (I think Young and Johnson are going to make whoever drafts them very happy).

I think Grant is not as good defensively as Wright, who I think is going to have a very long, successful NBA career.

If EG goes for an athlete, I think either Richaun Holmes or Montrezl Harrell might be a doggone good pick at 19. Just on dunks alone.

Funny you listed those two centers as one of our picks. I wanted to post that yesterday... some creapy feeling I had that would be the shocker. LOL
