R.I.P. former Bullet Moses Malone.

In between the Bullets title and the rise of Magic/Bird, he was to me the biggest star. Even though he was on the wrong side of 30 when he arrived in DC, it was still very exciting getting him (even if I didn't like seeing Ruland go), and Malone still had plenty of game. I remember seeing the team in International Square, and being amazed by how short he looked standing next to Manute. Both of them are now gone, but neither one is forgotten. RIP

Before there was a Shaq, there was Moses.

He knew how to rebound so well.

When the trade for Malone happened, I remember thinking we got a great center, all be it on the south side of his career. He ended up having a couple of great seasons for us. He coulda taught John Williams a bunch of things. Then we got Bernard King too... wow what a team.

I almost forgot the Big Mo played for us.

The great ones are falling fast. RIP big man!

RIP. His Bullets teams were some of the first I remember.

I didn't follow Malone in the ABA, and I cannot recall Moses' transition to the NBA. I can recall liking Jeff Ruland (one of the Bruise Brothers along with Rick Mahorn) a lot.

Ruland's career was derailed by injuries, (sort of like RG3). I think that's the reason he was traded for Old Mo. I was expecting great things from Malone. He did carry the Bullets to the playoffs. He just wasn't dominant.

As for great ones dying out, I would like to see Wes Unseld, Elvin Hayes, and Bob Dandridge actively engaged with these a Wizards.

RIP big man. I was pretty surprised to read/hear of his demise. He was relatively young (60?).
I remember being not terribly pleased with the Ruland-Moses trade since I too loved Ruland.
I think Bullet's mgmt was overly enthralled with Terry Catledge after he had a really good
playoff game 7 against us.

But Ruland was never the same player after a couple/few good years with us. Moses was
still solid and the team we had w/ Malone^2 and Bernard was a pretty good team that took
the DET team that went to the Finals to a full 7 games.
