People don't understand dirty players like me and Dellavedova. I wasn't out to hurt anybody but if I hurt you I didn't care. There's no voice in my mind saying "oh be careful of his knees! He might get hurt!" If it's a choice between your knees and the ball, I'm getting the ball. If you don't want to get hurt, stop trying to beat me at basketball.

Della is reckless. Bogut is sneaky and calculated. Bogut is less likely to injure you, but more likely to "cheat" more effectively.

The thing about Dellavedova is that, if he was really just reckless, as people claim, he'd take out a teammate or two every now and again as well. He's clearly pretty calculating with where he picks and chooses his spots to be reckless. And as far as not caring if somebody gets hurt, it's a pretty fine line to suggest that, if you go through a player's knees to get a ball, that you didn't want to hurt him. You want to get the ball so badly that you're willing to take out a guy's career to do it is basically the same thing as saying you want to hurt a guy if it helps you gain an advantage somehow.

Bruce Bowen used to have a great way of defending, too, sliding his foot underneath shooters coming down on their jumpshots. Sure, he may not have wanted to hurt somebody, but it's basically an attempt to injure in order to gain an advantage. Nascar drivers could design cars that had bits of debris that came off mid-race and made it really tough for anyone driving behind them to avoid accidents unless they basically pulled off the road. They might not want those people hurt, just to stop trying to race. Eventually, lines have to be drawn, and I can't speak for you, personally, either as a player or a fan, but imo Dellavedova has crossed that line several times already. Punching a guy in the face to make him stop chasing the basketball would be effective, too. Why is it more okay to take out his knees?

No, punching gets you thrown out.

We went through this in the nineties when people discovered you could get a psychological advantage by trash talking. But it hurt the league's image so the owners didn't want it to continue, and the players didn't like it either so they all agreed it should stop, and both sides kind of came to an agreement to cut it out.

I think it's hypocritical - why is so much attention being paid to Dellavedova, but no attention to Harding and his bs antics? John Stockton was arguably the dirtiest basketball player ever born and nobody complained about him. What's with all the selective attention?

For the record, I complained about Stockton. And I didn't have any problem with trash talking, honestly. It's just talk. Punching gets you thrown out, but why? Image? What's the difference here? Trash talking doesn't end careers and honestly sometimes did more harm to the guy doing it than good.

Although I will suggest that the complaints levied at Dellavedova really need to be levied against the league moreso. I also tend to think that a bigger issue with Dellavedova is that he's operating in a sort of a vacuum. In the old days, if he went for the knees so obviously as he does, the other team would take him out with an especially hard foul and it would be over. Or if he continued, there would be a bench clearing brawl. Basically, there was a certain amount of self-policing that happened back then. Now, that self-policing is gone, the last bit lost thanks to Ben Wallace and Ron Artest. So no self-policing and no league intervention unless it becomes a publicity issue significant enough to warrant their attention makes for a rather dangerous league in terms of the kinds of dangerous play that results in serious injuries.

Dellavedova, Adams, and Bogut as the top 3? Obvious bias against white guys!

(It is interesting that not only would the top 3 all be from an underrepresented demographic, so to speak, but that all 3 are from Australia or New Zealand. Maybe it has more to do with growing up playing Rugby before switching to basketball?)

I would vote for Justise Winslow, even though he has not reached the heights of despicability that he showed flashes of in college. But I have faith in him that he will be at the top of this list in the near future.

Guys like Harden, Wade and Durant are floppers and flailers. My disdain with them is their facetiousness and the NBA's inability to not hold refs accountable for giving them bail out calls galore. Facetiousness sucks but that isn't as bad as Dellavedova's malicious style of play. CP3 kind of encompasses both

All of em can suck balls and stub their tows every 15 mins for the rest of their lives for all I care. :curse:

Yeah. Dellavedova is dirty and tries to hurt guys. Bogut is merely a cheater.

Speaking of dirty, I give you J.R. Smith:

this wasnt even the dirtiest play of the game. there was someone who straight dove under a guy's legs for absolutely no reason when he was coming down from getting a rebound. pretty sure it was delly. he just dove under his legs face first.
