Larry Sanders Wants to Return, Get Him

Post#1 » by closg00 » Wed Feb 10, 2016 4:00 pm

Linking to the BF article. Sanders is obviously worthy of a low-risk, team-option deal to get him on this team and rebuild our aging front court, get it done Ernie.

As a min salary guy? Sure. But I wouldn't have big expectations. Remember, as good as he was defensively was as bad as he was offensively. And at 27 years old, he's had all of one half of a good season in the NBA.

The Spurs will probably get him. Duncan is due to leave and Aldridge doesn't like playing center.

I'd like him here but he can't play next to Gortat. So he'd have to be a backup. He's probably not immediately interested in starting but not sure we're a great sell for him.

There's the VA connection at least

Can't believe no one has mentioned that weed is legal in DC now. He's going to sign with DC or Denver.

I don't think they'd be interested because they like high-skilled offensive players at every position. He's a very low skilled player. I believe Skiles was the Bucks coach when he played his best, so Orlando would make sense to me.

Portland? Washington state right across the river.

The guy has played less than 50 games the past three seasons. There are players in the D-league eating convenience store food and getting paid less than 30k a year that can give you more than Larry Sanders.

Pass.

Whiteside eventually got his ship together, perhaps Sanders will too.

This is my thinking. When immature guys get some time out of the league to do some soul-searching, there's a good possibility that they get their $h!t together.

If he could be signed for a vet minimum type of contract, it would be worth it - particularly in the unlikely event that we land Durant and we're looking to round out our roster with vet minimum guys who can actually play.

At the veteran minimum, absolutely. There's zero risk. If he's good -- awesome! Something for nothing. If he sucks or if he's an ass -- just cut him.

I'd sign him tomorrow to a 3-4 year deal for a couple mill a year, opt outs and incentives, bonuses and such, non guaranteed. if he plays well we have a great back up center, if he can't cut him. Picking this guy up tomorrow, that would at least allow us to move nene without fear of loosing depth.
