I've never been a fan of Hickson, but he belongs in the NBA, and I certainly wouldn't complain about signing him for the veteran minimum - especially when we need another body for depth up front.

He steals rebounds

Plays no defense

Not efficient offensively

Terrible signing

Ok, I'll check to see if there are any all-stars to be had for the veteran minimum.

None so far.

Still waiting.

Crickets...

Rather have Bargnani on the team than Hickson

Fault can't be placed all on them as they were often forced to play out of position based on poor coaching or injury but at the end of the day neither contributed much to the cause. They both maintained professionalism though, wish them the best in the future.

From the Nuggs board^...but JJ will be roster filler for very cheap (hopefully) and we didn't give-up any assests for him so....

Hickson won't be a rotation player for us. He'll be an emergency big behind Gooden. In that role, Hickson will be serviceable.

Ain't like there are a lot of options for bigs out there. He's fine and I don't care if he steals rebounds. John Wall stole a rebound or two tonight to get his triple-double.

I mean, he has to be a better option as a backup center then gooden, right?

I figure he has less downside and and less upside. Gooden is a feast-or-famine guy: one minute, he's grabbing big boards and hitting 3s; the next he's making incredibly dumb decisions and getting beat flatfooted on defense. I suspect Hickson would have fewer highs and fewer lows.

This !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy EG did not give up that DPE yet. Hes saving it for a bigger fish than Hickson. AKA Joe Johnson, Kevin Martin, ETC...Etc....etc......
This is a solid move, he is athletic, he solid when playing with a good point guard, see how he did in Portland with DL. he rebounds well too, this team needs that off the bench, and if/when nene goes down hickson is solid replacement,

I look for anderson, neal or gooden to get released soon. EG probably has a strategy for that DPE. I am not taking up for that idiot, but say what you will about him. He is, and has been for a while at least been decent at picking up guys mid season.

Hickson is an empty stats guy who puts up decent numbers but with consistently bad intangibles. He's had a substantially negative on/off differential in every single season of his career - a remarkable stat when you think about it. (He has played 8 seasons so far.)

Nevertheless, he's a warm body who is probably better than Blair. Since this organization never takes a shot with young players out of the D-League, I expected them to go after a waived veteran like this, particularly since there are only 27 games left to go in the season.

They could do worse, I suppose.
