fishercob wrote:That said, I don't believe Ted has any interest in making a change. I actually had a most depressing conversation with someone in the know this morning that confirms all of our worst fears about how the organization views itself.
That seems a good place to start. Not to sound negative, but this team is owned by an arrogant cheapskate, managed by a moron, coached by an idiot, and trolled by a creamsicle. They pretend this is the best of all possible worlds, so there is no need for change. DC media reps don't confront them about the obvious. The organization has insulated itself from external criticism. Terd is willing to accept credit for any team success, but financial gain and delusional ego fapping are the goals, and he obviously doesn't know the first thing about basketball.
So how the **** do you get his tone deaf attention? As Professor PIF has pointed out many times, it's all about the money. He won't be blaming that on injuries, and if he's losing some money, someone's gonna get **** canned.
TGW's threatening to not renew, dandridge declined to renew, dobrojim is going from two tickets to one. I recall at least one other person writing here recently that they were declining renewal, and several others on the fence. Make this the thread for people who have (this year or in the past) declined to renew, especially because of Terd n EGg, and for people who are thinking about it. Maybe a poll can be added. And maybe we can keep millie out. Can you do a thread specific ban? If not, I recommend that everyone put him on ignore right now, so he doesn't clutter up the thread with OT crap like Terd's shiny heinie. Shut up, creamsicle, the adults are talking (and when the adults are monte and AFM, you're a sad little boy).
After 20+ years of sporadic ticket buying (remember when you could get those discount tickets through Costco?), my wife and I had a partial season plan for I think 8 years. It was an accumulation of factors that led me to not renew, including Terd, that cheap little clip joint canary (and yes, he is personally responsible), substituting Sixers tickets for the LeBJ Heat tickets I paid for, without permission or even notice. When I confronted the ticket agent (Marvin or whatever his name was) he apologized and sent me Bobcats tickets. ************* Bobcats tickets! That team won 8 games! Why not just send me a bowl of ass! That should have been enough, but I was still open to renewing. But then they started pressuring me: after 8 years in the same seats on a partial plan, they said I had to buy a full season to keep those seats. They said they didn't raise the prices that year. They lie! But still, I was open to renewing. As that miserable lockout shortened season (a lockout that Terd was key in instigating), with the draft picks looking like crap and the Nene acquisition advertising that Terd was quite flexible (pretty reckless) with his 10-point plan, I was still open to renewing. But then, finally, it became obvious that EGg wasn't going anywhere, and he traded for Okafor and Ariza to prove it. **** team rebuilding, let's put a passable mediocrity on the floor, call it a playoff contender, and surround it with platitudes about veteran leadership and learning to win.
So I didn't renew. **** those ********. I get to watch games on TV in pink spandex while doing bong hits. My cat can watch too (she doesn't smoke weed). I don't need that pukified Phone Booth and its lousy food. I just stopped giving Terd my money, and man did it feel great! I could have gone to games, but as long as it was Terd n EGg (and Witt) it always felt like fool's gold, even in the playoffs. It always felt like fake, Madison Avenue success, a reprise of past Grunfeld peaking-just-above-average teams.
BOYCOTT WIZARDS TICKETS! Post your overwrought Wizards tickets melodramas here. You too creamsicle, because we just PMed each other and now we all have you on ignore. If you have tickets, don't renew, and tell all your friends to do the same.
PS: Mods, feel free to merge this into one of the other BOYCOTT WIZARDS TICKETS! threads. And you're still on ignore, creamsicle.

I'm on board with the boycott. I've told my Wiz ticket agent why I've asked him to take me off of their mailing/call sheet. Completely. I told him that *I'd call him* the moment Grunfeld was fired. But not a moment before. So please don't keep my information so he could call me in case Ernie is axed.
Good thread.

Those who tell don't know, and those who know don't tell. And remember, a quitter never wins, and a winner never quits. It's better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done. A penny saved is a penny earned, when you play with fire, you'll get burned, don't count your chickens before they hatch, one bad apple don't spoil the batch.
PS: "Who is creamsicle and why do you call him that?" sounds like it's from What's My Line or To Tell the Truth. "Survey says: Millie!" Because he's cold and orange on the outside and soft, white and sweet on the inside. And, uh, there's that big popsicle stick.

I believe this is terrible timing considering the money we have to spend in the summer and expiring contracts to land a star player that would most likely have this team either advancing deep into the playoffs next season or in the ECF.
Majority of season ticket holders aren't giving up that opportunity and missing out on next seasons potential rewards.

When I was a little kid, I believed, even though I had jumped off the end of the couch 800 times, on the 801st I might still learn to fly.

I went in with other people on 20 game plans or season tickets through 2010-2011. I became less emotionally involved in the team around the same time as monte, along with my friends, for some of the same reasons.
The draft failures, the trading of future assets to plug holes on a stopgap basis, and the failure of any of the core young players to develop beyond expectations has made it clear over time that this rebuild would top out well short of the Wizards being true contenders, as discussed endlessly on this board. The second round runs of the last two seasons have been fun, but frustrating, as they were based on factors that could not be sustained.
Also, when Ted took over he made changes that really hurt the value proposition for 20 game plans, sort of pushing people toward season tickets. I tried that for a year, and I just wasn't getting to enough games to justify continuing. The price hikes of the past few years and other changes have hurt the value proposition for season tickets, confirming that I made the right choice.
From a straight value perspective, I think it's better to buy the individual games that you want on the secondary market than to have any kind of plan. StubHub if I'm planning to go with other people, or out on F Street at 7:05pm when I'm going by myself.
I've been going to 4-5 games a year for the past few years, but haven't gone to any this year. So I've been effectively boycotting out of apathy without making it a clear stand.
This board is a great forum with intelligent discussion. This year's collapse had gotten my hopes up that Ted might come to see the light and change management, so I've been more active. But it looks like I was asinine for having those hopes.
This thread is good, since I've been able to lay out some thoughts here that I can use to reply to the next email from my agent. I usually delete those.
Also, I'm really not in favor of banning people except in extreme circumstances. The mods here have generally not been heavy-handed, which makes it a better place. The oddballs, misguided, and even a few trolls bring something in terms of entertainment value.

I can't believe I am saying this but I kinda agree with Milellie. Grunsfeld plan all along was to get a KD this summer or someone of similar talent. I am going to give Grunsfeld/Wizards this summer to try to achieve this plan. If they don't, then I am on board with the boycott. Heck, even if they do get a top tier player, I may still boycott depending on who it is. But for me, I have already endured so much pain, what is another 4 months?

Come on, friends, you surely got the memo about putting creamsicle on ignore. Federal law prevents a full ban for at least 6 months, but there are tax consequences. Until such time, try not to quote millie, as that evades the North Korean boycott and plants him smack in the middle of our pleasant little cotillion. I knew he wouldn't understand that the focus of this thread isn't to debate whether to boycott but to discuss how to boycott. He can only argue in favor of Terd and EGg. For example, if I say, "Terd obviously spends a crapload on expensive clothes, and yet he still comes off looking boring and cheap," he'll argue against that position even though he knows nothing about fashion, wears ugly clothes, and can't even remember what Terd's clothes look like (they look smelly).
Don't quote millie. It evades the filter.

Gave up my center select seats. I'm still being asked to reconsider. My seats are real premium 'once in a life-time' seats. However, I'm done. I can get the same seats at 60% of my cost. I refuse to spend my hard earned money to support an organization that doesn't promote excellence. If money is the main motivation for owning the team (which there is nothing wrong with that), then I've re-adjusted how I'm dealing with this org.
The Wizards are like a bad stock. There are people who can justify why they own it from $100 to $20. They come up with excuses like 'people love movies so there will always be a blockbusters.' Well a bad investment is a bad investment. The first three letters of fanatic is fan. Owners like this count on fans being unreasonable. If I was a Sixers STH, I'd still have tickets because I believe in the plan. Six years ago when I signed up, I believed in the plan. However management is all over the place with zero future planning and 'knee jerk' reactions to self inflicted problems....I can't get behind that. The KD2DC movement makes sense if you think about it on the surface....just like getting into Harvard. However, what are the odds? Are you sling blade or bill gates? Wiz vs OKC. This org had a 20% chance to get kD. But they forgot that most teams will be flush with cash. We needed to be an elite org (ABLE TO HANDLE INJURIES) and we can't. We should have gotten Morris earlier vs at the deadline.
The worst thing about all this is I planned to take my daughter to games for a long time. This was going to be our thing. However for the same amount of money, our thing will be other things.
They've probably lost a big STH forever.

I have been part of a season ticket group for 7 years; this year I split season tickets in section 100. I am not renewing. If I want to go to a game next year, it won't be hard getting my hands on tickets.
A note about dandridge: As some of you might recall, he got a phone call from Leonsis not long after the Arenas trade and they spoke for a while (maybe 20 minutes). At the time, the organization clearly knew who he was as a customer, given the amount of money he spent with them and for how long. Ted wasn't calling random schmos for 2-year season STH's from the 400 level. I hope whatever impressed upon Ted that d10 was worth his personal time several years ago also registers that they have lost one of their best customers ever.
I filled out the survey that TGW linked to (thank you) and am also going to draft a letter to mail to Leonsis. I love basketball and the NBA and going to do my bets to enjoy the playoffs, but I admit there is a constant reminder of how pathetic and hopeless a hand we Wizards fans have been dealt.
But yeah. I can't take it anymore.

Milellie's point is meaningless. It's a given that if EG lands KG, then these threats will be forgotten because the team will actually be a contender.
Basically, the threat here is to boycott the Wizards unless EG is fired
or unless they get KD.

Then someone a lot more competent than EG should be making the decisions.
And only the fact that the cap is going up at a record percentage and amount gives them the possibility of improving next season - so don't be giving EG credit for that.
All aboard the Boycott Train! Woot woot! (Choo choo?)

The KD plan made sense, but they forgot to tell the players to take every regular season game seriously because Durant isn't going to a 40-win team that misses the playoffs. This team showed an embarrassing level of inconsistency and effort all year. The only guys I felt came to play every night, both mentally and physically, were Gortat and Temple.

I've been a season ticket holder for the past two years, and I decided I wasn't going to renew once I saw that Terd had raise the prices yet again. The plan already felt like a bad deal because I could get a bunch of games for cheaper on NBA ticket exchange, and with higher prices and a low likelihood of making the playoffs, it was a no-brainer not to renew.
I think a lot of STHs are doing the same. The deadline to renew was supposed to be 2 weeks ago, but they emailed me yesterday saying its not too late to renew. I'm all for boycotting so that the greedy owner learns his lesson.

Can someone let Turd know that he can still make money AND put a good product on the floor? It's almost like he thinks he can't do both. I mean, bringing Grunfailed back reeks of cheapness and stubbornness.
So I'm all for hitting him in the pockets. It's the only language he knows.
