Say Grunfeld and Wittman gets fired like many suggest. Kiss the Durant sweepstakes goodbye. He's definitely not coming to a rebuilding team.
A new GM would most likely blow this team up, and take at least 3 or 4 seasons to get it back on track. John Wall would be gone by then as he does not want to stick around on a rebuilding team wasting his career.
Then what? You've lost your main star/franchise player and you have to either trade/draft another one. 5+ years of missing the playoffs, potential revolving door of head coaches and falling back to the dark ages. Is that what some of you want? The grass is not always greener on the other side.
The best thing for the Wizards is to keep Grunfeld. Ted realizes this. The risk is not worth it. Canning him would set this franchise back longer than you might imagine.

Maybe I am wrong, but I think its had to contain usage to just the off season. Once you start, its hard to stop, and
definitely not easy to have it not rule you in some way, and at some point when it really matters.

The weed was found in his "parties luggage", someone traveling with him so they can't pin it on him, but-still.Ernie looks even more foolish, the Wizards could have drafted the best SG available at pick 13 as Beal insurance.

Or, even better, they could have made a sober and realistic assessment about the roster weeks before hand, then started playing Oubre 30 minutes a game while losing enough to slide back into the 8-10 range. Oh, and they could have moved Dudley to a contender for a 2nd round pick.
There are a large number of things the Wiz front office could have done that would have been more productive than trading a poorly protected 1st round pick for a below average starter who isn't even a perfect fit for the roster.
