Fellas,
It's become very clear that some players, young and old, that had previously been labeled as tweeners are making a comeback as the new small ball 4. Richard Jefferson and Andre Iguodala are the glaring examples in the finals, but other previous tweeners have made a contribution at this position (Marvin Williams, Aminu, Michael Beasley, etc.).

I know Otto and Oubre have the height and length for this, but Otto is our starting 3 and VERY skinny. Oubre shoots and rebound it well enough, but he is very young/raw and I'd rather him focus on becoming a pure 3/wing before trying to be a small 4.

So who in FA could we scoop up to play this position for cheap? I.E. No Ryan Anderson, Deng, or Marvin Williams.

Solomon Hill
Anthony Tolliver
Dorell Wright

Why no Loul Deng or Marvin Williams? IMO those are two of the best options at the 4 this offseason. Better than Ryan Anderson and especially Ersan Ilyasova or Mirza Teletovic. Loul Deng excelled once he moved to the 4 when Bosh went down and a huge reason why Miami played well down the stretch of last season.

Anthony Tolliver is the only guy capable of being in the rotation at 4 out of the group of candidates you mentioned. He's a 15-20 minute backup at best though.

Jordan Hamilton is a 2/3. Solomon Hill, Dorell Wright & Wesley Johnson are all strictly 3s IMO.

Michael Beasley at the 3 or 4 is still a terrible player btw.

Let me clarify the thread. I'm thinking of someone who wouldn't start or require a big contract that could serve that role. Deng and Williams will each get 10M+ and multiple years.

Another guy to add to the list is Quincy Miller. He's a legit 6'9+, 230lbs, 7'1 wingspan. He can rebound and spread the floor and appears to have found a comfort in Euroleague. He was never quick enough to guard SF's and a torn ACL didnt help that. But he has added about 10-15lbs and seems more focused.

At 23, he could be a really savvy pickup for a 1+1 (TO) deal.
