I thought so too until I saw the second year is a team option. I get it now.

A small nit, but they would have been better off getting a year with no guarantee. Although they couldn't trade him until next year.

The Miami Heat didn't have a draft pick and haven't added a FA of note. So, why will they improve - health. They Waiters Winslow, Whiteside, Johnson and Richardson all missed lots of games. So, they will improve their record by being healthy. Will they be healthier - don't know but I would guess this would improve? Their cap situation is a mess this year and next - so they basically need to go with their current lineup of:

Code: Select all

Dragic       Johnson
Waiters      McGruder
Richardson   Winslow
Olynyk       Johnson     Jones
Whiteside    Adebayo

Note: this is just a regular season win SWAG! Nothing more :D
Note: I have more playoff teams than there are slots - I am too much a wimp to cut one of them.
Note: I have us 5th - but we could easily be 4th to 9th. I wouldn't disagree with you on any of those spots.

Playoff teams - Probably win more games than we do
Boston, Philly, Toronto, Indy

========

Wizards

========

Playoff teams - homer in me says we will win more games
Charlotte, Detroit, Milwaukee, Miami

========

Cleveland, Atlanta, Orlando, Chicago, Brooklyn, NY

I think Milwaukee will pass the Wizards pretty decisively this season. Giannis taking another step could be game over. Plus they have a real coach now.

Also, Chicago wants to compete this year, so they could contend for the 8th seed. WCJ has apparently looked quite good.

Jabari's second season has a team option. So if he crashes and burns, the Bulls can let him go.

Return to Washington Wizards
