Washington Wizards four-time all-star John Wall is aiming for more hardware in New Orleans.

Wall will compete in the NBA All-Star Weekend skills challenge Feb. 18, The Washington Post has learned. This will be Wall’s third run in the event that puts contestants through a series of ballhandling, passing and shooting drills.

Huh. I wonder if Kyrie, etc., are competing.

Boogie's in it, though.


Meh. It was fun/novel seeing KAT win, but other than that, this is a bland event. A popcorn break for the crowd. Wall could win and "set a record," and it wouldn't improve his personal brand/marketability one bit.

I don't hype on All Stars at all. Last good and competive game was in 2000 when AI won MVP. I hope Wall won't play too long.

This. The All Star game is stupid. They should just name the All Star players but not have an actual game. I'm hoping Wall plays maybe 10 minutes.

It feels a bit like the whole AS weekend is on life support. Last year's dunk contest breathed unexpected life into it, but it just delayed the inevitable. I think the event is going to get canceled eventually. It's not really necessary to promote the game's stars any more.

Rising Stars challenge was even a let down this year. I thought being USA v World they would try and play some defense. It was as much a layup line as the All Star game.

Dunk contest was ok, obviously not as good as last year, but there is always down-years. Normally I froth for the 3pt and skills contents but this year they werent as fun. They need to bring back the Shooting Stars, with a current player, WNBA player and an old star representing one franchise. That was fun.

I never even watch the All Star game anymore. They need to throw a big cash prize on these events. Donate it to charity, whatever. I think theres one for the Saturday stuff, but have it for all events for the winning team. Might make them play a bit harder.

Last night's Craig Sager tribute was really nice.
