Wizards acquire Brandon Jennings
Figured we should have a separate thread for this.
Wiz still need to release a player to make room for Jennings. Should be done by the Toronto game.
Thoughts: Jennings sucks but he's a bajillion times better than Burke so I'll take it. He's shooting under 40% this year so I hope he does a lot of pushing the tempo and passing the ball.

It's weird that he's on the Wizards after that preseason game. But yeah, it is an upgrade.

He makes a decent John Wall clone as a ball handling speedster and willing passer. Maybe we get a Markieff effect with him too. First you win, then you get good, being on a winning squad maybe he shows better focus on defense.

He hasn't cleared waivers yet, has he?
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Not yet. 48 hours from being waived, so tomorrow.

Dude is still a cornball for that imo ..
Never been the biggest fan of Jennings game but he's a lot better than Burke , just based on his ability to handle and pass decently. Even if he's a bit of a chucker at times he'll be helpful to the second unit.

If we sign him, Burke is absolutely the guy to cut. Our other end of bench players have long, cheap, non guaranteed contacts. We will need that cheap depth in the future. We won't ever need Burke again.

Oh god yes! No more Burke. Cut him. I've never been so happy!! Never liked Jennings game but he's a baller and can distribute. YUGE upgrade over Burke and Sato.

BJ also seems to play with a fiery attitude/personality which I'll take. Hopefully can fire up the 2nd team a bit.

Yup, definitely serves as that spark off the bench. Prefer him to Lou Will tbh.

Burke and Sato are basically unplayable. This is a big upgrade. I can't imagine trying to roll with Burke/Sato in the playoffs.
The fact that we can pick up Jennings off waivers just shows the folly of trading a 2nd round pick for Burke.

Re: Wizards acquire Brandon Jennings
I'm not down on Satoransky, he's still raw and needs to work on his game quite a bit but Jennings clearly is an upgrade over what we have right now.
You get the bad with Jennings obviously, but he's also got some Jekyll to his Hyde.
The Wizards have a pretty point-guard friendly offense and I think Washington's bench is talented enough to keep Jennings locked into running the offense and only going off to do his own thing when things break down.

Re: Wizards acquire Brandon Jennings
Assuming he clears waivers, Brandon Jennings will be an upgrade over the Wizards current backup guards.
So EG failed the offseason where he had loads of cash and yet couldn't build a bench. Ernie was one of the only GMs in the NBA to consider Trey Burke a viable backup point guard and gave up a 2nd rounder for the rights to Trey Bum. At least Jennings won't cost the Wiz an asset. Just like the Bogdanovich trade, Grunfeld cleaning up his own mess.

The only reason I could see to retain Burke & cut House or Ochefu instead would be that Jennings could get injured & maybe (just a maybe...) we'd need another PG. Whereas neither Ochefu nor House provides that slight depth benefit. Certainly not House.
I'm still for cutting Burke. But I doubt Ernie will do it. Not for the above reason, but because cutting him, after taking it in the shorts in a trade in order to dump Nicholson, leaves Ernie looking like he made multiple idiotic mistakes last off-season. Which he did. But he'll be reluctant to make it so obvious.
Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

Burke did not play last night so he's probably the guy they're gonna get rid of. I don't see any reason why Ochefu and House are still on the roster as well.
