Per 36, that's 15.5 points, 7.2 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals. He has a TS% of .715. His ORtg is 131. His DRtg is 106. The team is 6-2 over that stretch and Sato has an on/off rating of +9.2. He had a negative point differential in just one of those 8 games (the Philly game).

He has made 10 of his last 12 threes. :o

They definitely need to go out and get Derrick Rose.

I think perhaps the level of international play has caught with and even surpassed regular NBA regular season play. Jan Vesely right now IMO is better than Ian and Jason Smith. He's far more athletic than Gortat.

Jan is exactly what this Wizards team needs at this time.

not sure about that. Jan isn't even rebounding in the euroleague right now. I didn't follow the team closely enough when Jan was a wizard to know much about his development or lack thereof.

Jan is still turning the ball over But, at least now he is hitting his FTs and not petrified when he gets the ball and is finishing really well. On the defensive end, the game has finally slowed down for him.

I have been watching him play next to Jason Thompson - I think Jan is a bit better now. And the two of them have done pretty well in the Euroleague as a tandem.

CCJ, I still don't think he wants to play C. So, he would take minutes from Scott or Morris and that would probably clog the court, no?

He doesn't want to play center?

No worries.

Promise him if he returns he won't play center. Then renege and put him in at where he best fits, C PF or SF.

Center is not the same as that used to be when Jan was here. Vesely has the mobility to defend all three SF, PF, or C... I think with less fouls than before.
Bye bye Beal.

Check Jan Vesely's game logs and his splits when he started 15 games to end the season. It was 2012, 2013 or thereabouts.

He was playing well.
Bye bye Beal.

Such a great draft pick by Ernie. Now all the hype is about this Doncic guy, Sato is very similar.

hope we can lock him on a 4 year deal and keep him in DC for his entire career

Sato is an RFA in 2019

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/20229609/nba-free-agents-2018-2019

Now it makes sense why he was signed to a 3 year deal in 2016.

With teams not having a bunch of cap room and having the right of refusal, not feeling bad about keeping both KO and Sato.

Just gotta unload Mahinmi some way.

Mahinimi expires after next year. 2019 1st+Mahinimi for raw cap space?

Mahinmi expires in 2020. :banghead:

We may have to unload the 2019 1st to dump him.

The Wizards 2017 free agency strikeout is proving to be one of the biggest general managing blunders in professional sports history.

I've said it before and Ill say it again. You'll are overreacting to his contract.
Mahinmi has a declining contract and will be paid $15.5M in his last year. That would be like the 80th highest paid player in the league.
- He is healthy
- He looks to be in great shape
- He fouls too much, but his isnt a liability at the FT line anymore
- He ranks as the 30th best Center in RPM, ahead if Sabonis, Gortat, Plumlee, Len, Myles Turner, Cody Zeller, WCS, Dieng, Lopez, Kanter, etc.

We would not need to trade our 2019 1st to dump him. If we traded our 2019 1st, we would get some asset back. MAYBE we trade a 2020 1st to dump him.

He's going to be our starting center next year. His value will increase

Doubtful. I don't see us trading Gortat in the offseason. Who wants a 34 year old center?

Looking at the player contracts out there, I just don't see a compatible contract that makes sense for both teams.

So, with Scott being a UFA after this season, and Oubre and Sato being RFA's after next season, who of those 3 will the Wiz keep - keeping in mind Wiz won't keep Morris and Gortat after next season?

Scott is gone if he's looking for anything over 5 per. Our best power forward is Otto Porter

Yes, but we probably shouldn't play Otto more than 25 minutes a game there - especially with his health issues. So Wiz need quality depth there.

Scott is probably gone unless EG finds a way to unload Morris, Gortat or Mahinmi.

The one thing in our favor is that there won't be any teams with much cap money. As good as a year as he has had, Scott might be resignable for something like 2 years, $3M per.

I think it comes down to a choice between Scott and Morris. He can probably dump Morris for a lesser contract, but that'd probably take too much work for EG. I'd rather they dump Morris, because Scott could be a good cheap backup for several years.
