Feel terrible for him. Happy to hear he'll get the 1.3mil on his contract. Hopefully, this isn't the last we hear from him. Walk good brother!

Sorry to hear this. SMac has been developing into a happy story, and I hope he's able to come back.

I'm happy that he'll get the full value of his contract (from all reports). But, what are the salaray/tax implications of the Wizards signing another guy (or convert a current partially-guaranteed or two-way guy into a fully-guaranteed guy)?

Feel so bad for him...loved how he worked out with JWALL in the offseason.

We might need him for the playoffs... if anything happens to Carrick.
What... too soon?

Really glad they are picking up his option & paying the kid. Class decision on the part of Ernie & Ted.
I assume this means he'll count against the 15-man roster -- but, maybe there's some provision for a situation like this? Anyone know?

From Jake Whitacer @sbnation Bulletts forever
"The Wizards could also apply for a Disabled Player Exception, similar to the one they applied for in 2016 when Martell Webster was ruled out for the season, but since Mac was only slated to make $1.3 million this season, the value of the exception would be incredibly small. The only advantage to applying for the exception is that it would allow them to sign an additional player (or promote one of their two-way players to the full roster) and keep Mac’s Early Bird rights. Otherwise, they can release him and sign someone to a minimum deal or use what’s left of their taxpayer mid-level exception."
