:) Monte is correct. Never ever am I sarcastic. I'm not even ironic. I haven't the skill for such complexities.

I used a similar strategy. I might not win, but if I do, I ain't sharing that Lamborghini with anyone.

Detroit has won 5 in a row. There are now 9 teams realistically fighting for the playoffs, with only Toronto and Boston being sure-fire locks to make it. Only 4 games separate the 3rd seed (Cleveland) from the 9th seed (Detroit).

Some of those early losses :nonono:

Shouldn't we have three or four more wins right now?

http://www.playoffstatus.com/nba/easternsosrg.html

We've had an easier than average schedule so far. The rest of the way, we have a tough schedule. Toughest in the East if I read that right.

More about all that: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fancy-stats/wp/2018/02/12/steph-curry-and-the-warriors-have-an-easy-road-ahead-the-wizards-do-not/?utm_term=.395c445e292a

With the season 70% over, we are in 4th place in the East.

Projecting our home & road win %s takes us to 47.7 wins.
The Pacers are only 1/2 game behind us, but extending their home & road %s, they project to just under 46.2 wins. So we're a little further clear of them then the current 1/2 game edge would make you think.
As to the Bucks, projecting out their current home & road percentages gets them to just under 46 wins.
The Sixers project to just about 44.5 wins.
Miami -- 42.5 games.

Obviously, this is not predictive, but we look pretty good for the #4 spot.

But, it doesn't look like there's much chance to rise beyond that. We are way behind Toronto & Boston. Cleveland projects to 50 wins, & given their recent trades it's possible they do better than that.

Strength of schedule will have an effect on real results, of course. Still, we look pretty good for #4.

From another angle: we are 6-4 in our last 10 home games, & we are also 6-4 in our last 10 road games. If we play our final 25 games at that win pace, we wind up with 48 wins.

I'd say it's looking pretty good for Zards to win the Yugo. I mean Lamborghini. :)

I found this chart:

The Wizards have the hardest remaining schedule, but fortunately it's only slightly harder than our closest competition: Indy and Milwaukee. Watch out for Philly. They're only 2 games back and have a cakewalk schedule. I have no desire to face Philly in the first round. I'm not thrilled about a Milwaukee matchup either. I think we can beat Indy.

Somewhat mitigating our schedule being harder than Indy/Milwaukee is the fact that Indy has played 4 more home games than we have at this point, & Milwaukee has played 2 more.

But Philly does look like a problem. Not just b/c they have league's easiest schedule coming up, but also b/c they have had a much harder schedule so far than we have, yet they're only 2 games behind us. It's easy to imagine them leaving us in their rearview mirror.

DCZards, youngWizzy and Rafael122 are the current leaders in the clubhouse!

We are 10-3 in our last 13 games, the stretch John Wall has been out, taking our record from 26-22 to 36-25.

8 of those 13 games were on the road, which makes our recent performance that much more impressive. The last 3 teams we've beat are 19-8 in their last 30 games except for their losses to us. Include the Charlotte game in that accounting, & we are 3-1 vs. 4 teams who are 24-12 in the other 36 of their last 40 games -- or 25-15 overall in their last 40.

Right now, projecting our home & road winning %s to 41 games each gets us to 48.5 wins -- right on a par w/ our record last season.

...Make that 10-6, unfortunately -- & on a 3-game losing streak. :(

With 18 games left, 9 each at home & on the road, the Wizards are on pace for 46 wins. 4 of the 9 away games are vs. Houston, San Antonio, Cleveland & Boston -- all teams that don't lose much at home. Gonna be hard to post a winning record on the road the rest of the way alas.

Our 9 home games will be a challenge as well.

A 9-9 record going in would be no surprise, given our difficult schedule. Not hard to see us dropping to 6th in the East behind Philadelphia.
