Yup. This feels like a sure loss. We're about due for a game featuring a confluence of: overconfidence after a 3-game winning streak, underestimation of a sub-.500 team, and too much partying on the town the night before.
The only reason for optimism is that Miami just completed a 6-game road trip and oftentimes, the first home game after a long road trip still feels like a road game.

When will Candace Buckner be fired? By far the worst beat in the league. I miss Jorge and Michael Lee

Loss. Miami is our Daddy. We always lose to them.

I think Miami swept us last season. Any road win is tough. Really interested to see how (if) we scheme Whiteside. He tortured us last year. In Miami's last six games this year Whiteside stats:
3 Wins: 17.3 PPG, 15.7 RPG, 3.0 BPG, 2.3 SPG, 58.8 FG%, Net Rating +11.1
3 Losses: 12.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 1.7 BPG, 1.0 SPG, 47.1 FG%, Net Rating -14.3
He averages about 28 minutes per game.
I would think best strategy is keep a body on him at all times and put him on the FT line as needed. 24 fouls to give between Gortat, Morris, Mahinmi, and Smith. And perhaps go small on offense and try to run him off the court. Really need our finishers at the rim to be strong tonight.

I’ll predict a comfortable win since all signs point to a disappointing loss.

It's weird. Gortat usually does pretty well against big burly centers like Drummond, Howard, Jordan, etc. But Whiteside owns him.
Look at their last 5 matchups.
Total domination.Gortat has averaged 12 points, 11 boards and 0.4 blocks
Whiteside has averaged 23 points, 19 boards and 3.0 blocks

What's that got to do with tonight's game? I agree with pinkman.

We cannot stop Olynyk; we can only hope to contain him. He is actually making 47.2% of his 3's and taking a significant number of them, and he's got a much higher rebound rate this season. The Clynyk and Adebayo could make a decent combo at center if they ever decide to trade Whiteside.

Getting one in Miami and then winning the second game of the home and home would be a great way to make up for some of those terrible early season losses.
Not confident given our track record but it's a chance for the team to take a step forward so it'll be interesting to see how the guys respond to the challenge.
Wall in particular needs to step up and decide his matchup in his favor for once, Dragic has looked the more effective player in the majority of those outings so far.

Thx Monte!
It's hard to believe we didn't won since 2015 vs Lebronless Heat... this one will be tough no doubt.
I hope my hard work on Heat forum will pay off
