On the latest episode of Locked on Wizards, Ben Standig and Patrick Hruby talked about the how much these guys have improved. Hruby is more sold on Kelly than I am. He's still too volatile for me to assess. One of the more interesting points they make is that Oubre Jr. is the Wizards' best asset. Do you guys agree? Under what circumstances would you move him?

Oubre is such an interesting prospect, but it's still too early to really evaluate.

He should play starter minutes for the evaluation...

Oubre and Porter each rebound so well that there should be no problem playing them side by side for the foreseeable future. There really isn't any need to move either one.

So you pick up the Oubre option next year or try to sign him to a longer deal?

Oubre is great until he starts committing boneheaded fouls.

It depends on the price. I'd try to lock him into a 4-year, $12M per year extension. If he declined, I'd wait until next year and match any offer up to maybe $16M a year.

If a stud bigman is on the market, sorry but one of them has to go. Roster is imbalanced.

How so? Otto is a modern day 4 it will be more evident over the next 2 years. We have a 1-4 set and the least important position is open (Center).
We simply play this year out with no trades.
I assume we lose in either the semi's or ECF. But in doing so we hope Oubre proves to be a legit starting 3, Otto at the 4, and Mahinmi stays healthy.

I don't think Otto is built to grind out being an everyday 4, he excels when he is a small ball 4. I also think center is becoming a huge need especially in the east and while Gortat is consistent the new era of big men are passing him by talent wise and athleticly.

Well, sure. If you can trade one of them for Cousins, or Anthony Davis, or some other elite center, you do it. But I wouldn't trade them for a mere average starting center. I don't trade Oubre, for, say, Robin Lopez or Tristan Thompson or Nerlens Noel.

But I wouldn't say the roster is imbalanced. I'm totally fine with Wall, Beal, Porter and Oubre in the starting lineup. I don't think it presents any significant matchup difficulties at all.

The roster is not imbalanced. You need multiple wings capable of playing multiple positions in today's NBA. Heck, we could use another.
