Wall & Beal are anti Lowry & DeRozen

Post#1 » by cammac » Sat Dec 30, 2017 6:54 pm

Zack Lowe was commenting to the Toronto Media that during the season Lowry & Derozen are the superior players but in the playoffs Wall & Beal are more clutch! I think this has a grain of truth in that in the playoffs the Toronto pairing hasn't been dominant. But also Lowry came into some of the series with nagging injuries. This year Lowry & DeRozen have changed their game I believe for a positive. Wall has missed a significant number of games but is getting back on track and it is obvious that both Beal & Wall need each other to excel.

I like both teams but am a Toronto fan 1st but think it is a interesting topic!

Agreed. Frustrating to watch during the year, but the truth is nobody wants to see us in the playoffs. Only GSW has a record as good as us against teams above .500.

Historically, I'd agree. But every year is a new year and the Raptors look like they've made meaningful changes that might contribute to postseason success.

I think "nobody wants to see us in the playoffs" might be a wee bit of an overstatement. & your supporting evidence might be a wee bit misleading. :)

Lets say we come in 4th in the East, the teams above us being Cleveland, Boston & Toronto. Are you sure that all the bottom 4 would rather play Cleveland in R1 than the Wizards? Would they all rather play Boston than us?

Historically one or more might think we could be a tougher opponent than Toronto, no doubt. Then again, this year Toronto is killing the entire league -- up 8 points a game.

How about if a couple of those teams are below .500 -- we have a terrible record vs. teams below .500. Wouldn't that make them want us; based on your same evidence, I mean?

Then there's the West. Are you sure GS would rather face Cleveland than the Wizards, for example? :)

The way this team goes lazy on poorer teams and punches up against better teams, id prefer to finish in the bottom 4.

On topic though, I actually dont want to face Raps in the first round this year. Or probably at all. Despite previous years performances by both teams, I think Raps will overcome that in the playoffs this time around and be a dangerous team that shouldnt be slept on. And the Wiz have a really bad habit of sleeping on everyone this year.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.
