GT #62: Golden State Warriors @ Wizards 8:00 PM (NBCSW/ESPN/1500 AM)

Everybody was eating as the Wizards managed to secure their 2nd straight victory of the season at Milwaukee. Bradley Beal had 21 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and only 3 turnovers. Washington even had 41 points off the bench. The game became closer in the 2nd half as the Wizards had to battle some controversial calls, foul trouble from Satoransky, and Giannis being an athletic beast but ultimately the Wizards were able to close it out in the 4th quarter due to a nice pass by Beal and slam by Morris, and a clutch 3 by Beal.

Now the Wizards go back to DC to play the defending champs Golden State Warriors. While the Wizards played yesterday, the Golden State Warriors were actually in Washington DC visiting the African American Museum. The Wizards have had some heated battles over the past few years against a team they only see twice a year:
In their last matchup Beal and Green got into it.
Jennings shoved Javale McGee
John Wall got into it with Klay Thompson a few years ago
The Wizards beat the Warriors last time around in Washington but it appeared to be some dumb luck involved as Zaza Pachulia after boxing out for a rebound, clumsily fell into Kevin Durant's knee which sidelined him until the postseason. Washington jumped out to big lead and had to cling on for dear life as the Warriors outscored them by 16 points in the 2nd half.
Like Washington, Golden State is playing with a huge sense of urgency as they are currently 2nd in the Western Conference behind the Houston Rockets and need every win that they can get to keep pace with them. Washington is coming off a back to back but no player played more than 34 minutes so theoretically Washington may have enough energy to keep up with Golden State. The Warriors are also starting Javale McGee and Nick Young is coming off the bench; it will be interesting to see how the Washington fans greet them, who both lead the team in the scoring the last time the Wizards defeated the Warriors without John Wall (

Here are the highlights from the last time the Wizards beat the Warriors.

Wizards run without Wall is a great story, but I don't see how they're going to be able to overcome the Warriors.
Something to watch out for, Durant has made a habit out of getting hurt when playing in DC.

I'll be satisfied if they keep it below 25. Morale victory.

I might get to go to this game, tickets crazy prices, but box through client. I feel like I'm slipping down the list though, lots of hype with GSW skipping White House.
So would you boo Durant? What about McGee and Nick. I'd be a guest in box so probably best to sit there quietly!
Usually I prefer to attend the Hawks or Kings like teams so can bring kids and their friends for cheap.

Don't see the point of booing McGee and Nick Young, they didn't have any success with Washington but they're good guys even.
Not the type of guys you want to build a team around, but good guys nonetheless.
I'd reserve my booing for guys like Blatche, and there's no chance of him ever setting foot on a NBA court as a player.

A 14-7 finish gets the team to 50 wins.
As insignificant as that it is, a lot of people use 50 wins as a bench mark, it would be nice.

This is a game I would like to see a hungry call-up SG, we are just overmatched at every position and back-up position.
Brooks should pull some crazy **** like throwing CMC out-there.

Well I've already been bumped from list, so I won't be there. I'll have to interact with my family until halftime, then go to my cave to watch game, and jump on this board.
Per Wikipedia "On January 4, 2018, it was announced that Augusto Lima was taking Blatche's spot on the roster. Blatche was criticized for his poor performance and negative attitude during the early stages of the 2017–18 season. He averaged 12.8 points and 6.4 rebounds in the five games he played, and had a negative impact on the team's defensive efforts."

This game for me represents the rich guys against the poor guys in a fist fight
I know which team is hungrier.
Golden state has a collection of the greatest Shooters known to mankind. They are rich and athleticism at their big positions. Steph Curry might be the best shooter to ever play.
Poor Tomas Satoransky. He is not a brother and everybody knows what the NBA really stands for. On top of that he is stepping into John Wall shoes and the media refuses to accept his success. They are making it a US versus them with Wall being one of the US. Satoransky better not play good defense or they might call the foul on him because he is one of them as in rookies are unknowns.
Giannas Antetokumpo is a superstar and the official treat him like one.
The Golden State Warriors are full of superstars. Two for sure and two more better close.
All of that said I believe that the best this current Wizards can play even if Golden State has a good game Washington can beat them.
I want to see their best and a fairly officiating game.

I have nothing against the rich...
I really should have said complacent versus hungry.

YES!!!
THIS IS EXACTLY THE WAY THE WIZARDS NEED TO BE THINKING.
---JASON SMITH AND CHRIS MCCULLOUGH SHOULD PLAY. JS hasn't played in so long he'll bring crazy energy. Chris can jump out of the gym just like the Golden State guys. The Wizards could play 12 deep today if necessary.
FOULS AND ATHLETICISM use to your own advantage.
They could certainly use an athlete behind Beal. A healthy Sheldon Mac, who languished thanks to Brooks last season, would be ideal. Kelly does not have his grown-man strength yet.
Looking forward to the game!
