I and others have been beating this drum for a bit. E.g., re: Ty Lawson's signing:

Prioritizing signing a guy "with local ties"? Check. Cf. Blake, Dixon, Porter, Gooden (living in Bethesda at the time), Roger Mason Jr., Mike Hall (GW), KD (ok, that's defensible), Mike Scott... am I missing anyone else? I've never seen a professional franchise so obsessed with finding players with local ties.

We can now add Jeff Green to the list, with Thomas Robinson still in play.

Is this small sample size theater? Is it because the DMV is a hotbed for NBA talent? If we do target local guys with local ties, do we do it more frequently (or with greater "success") than other franchises?

Do the Wizards target LGWLT because they're easier to scout & meet in person, or because our FO thinks they're more likely to sign and thus easier to close?

Yeah, I'm not buying the line about E.G. targeting guys specifically because of the local angle.
