Lol, Schroder's a good solid all-around player, but it's crazy that a guy like him has already earned over 69 mil and expects another 84 mil with his next contract.

I'm shocked the lakers would offer him 20+ a year like that and double shocked he said no

Kinda disappointing, tbh. If you were him, wouldn't it be a dream come true to play with Lebron and Davis while getting paid a fortune?

That's just crazy ! Like this could be the worst contracting the league in its final year.

The Bucks painted themselves into a bit of a corner when they gave up so much to trade for him. The range of the value from $135 to $160 seems like there may be some terms that are team friendly, but it does seem like it could quickly become a millstone.

I just don't see the way to a title for them. I mean maybe they can slide in this yeah of health things pop up in the play offs but man that's a lot of luck involved.

Toronto seems like a perfect fit. They have a gaping hole at center. Birch will really fill it nicely and give them a solid 7-man rotation: Van Vleet, Lowry, Anunoby, Siakam, Birch; with Trent and Boucher getting a lot of minutes off the bench.

Khem Birch is one of those terrific success stories it's so fun to see happen. Played very well in college but went undrafted.

He played for our Summer League team in 2015 (you remember that, right?... nah, you don't). Played well, too: I didn't understand why we didn't keep him.

Of course, Ernie fixed that whiff by trading a lottery pick for Markieff Morris, right?

Anyone who likes good comic writing about sports and being a fan should read this opinion piece from The Ringer re: the OKC Thunder.

https://www.theringer.com/nba/2021/5/7/22425030/tank-diaries-oklahoma-city-thunder

Should be especially (and genuinely) enjoyed by all the bastards on this board in whose opinion the Wizards should have tanked.

Ummm, we did tank - we have consistently played a 3 PG lineup... :D

Tanking is shameful. A blight on sports.

The nerd-heads, the tech a-holes with their spread sheets, the measurables/metrics/let's look at the data folks -- they have killed sports. Truly. Baseball is unwatchable now. In basketball, fully 1/3 of the league is trying to lose (some artfully, some remorselessly). It mocks the very idea of competition. Everything now is -- be strong and loaded and go for it ... or gut your team and lose shamelessly (and shamefully). No in-between. And it sucks. S U C K S.

This is a thought-provoking post -- cool!

I wonder if it's really the tech-nerds that are to blame, however. I think maybe it's a cultural thing, where a championship is all that matters. Being #1.

&, it must be obvious, it's not just sports. It's a cultural disease.

Probably at its worst in politics.
