At long last! -- Devin Robinson gets his very own thread!

If Thomas Bryant has a thread, if Troy Brown has a thread -- it's only fair that Devin Robinson have his very own dedicated thread. Especially this Summer as he teeters on the brink of disappearance.

So... what say you? Does Devin have a future with the Wizards? Is he an NBA player? Or is he merely fodder for forgetfulness?

Personally, I think he's an NBA player.

Of course my standards aren't very high. :D

With his raw athleticism he could make an impact without being overly skilled (yet).

Just run the floor, put out some amount of effort on defense etc.

Isn't Devin Robinson the receiver the Slurs drafted in the second round a few years ago? Or was the Devon Hall? Or Devonshire?

I got two words that'll kill this thread

Scott.....Brooks.

Now go back into your corner and think about what you've done.

Devin Thomas? Guy from Michigan State who played like two games

(First off, lets draw no conclusions whatever from any comparisons of Troy Brown Jr. w/ either Robinson or Bryant. Troy graduated high school a year ago: Robinson is 4.3 years older, & Bryant is almost exactly 2 years older. They've had way way more experience playing high level organized basketball -- including each of them having a year as professionals)

Along with Thomas Bryant, Devin Robinson was our best SL player. Those 2 guys were head and shoulders more productive than anyone else on our team -- including Troy Brown (not surprising: see above).

Robinson was just terrific. He scored extremely well -- almost 26 points per 40 minutes at a .619 TS%. His rebounding was more than adequate for a wing, & the rest was ok too.

If Devin could put up numbers like these in the NBA he'd be one of the better wings in the league. But, of course, that is not happening! SL numbers are not NBA numbers! :)

So, the real question is -- can Devin Robinson be a rotation player in the NBA? Is he good enough?

I believe that when he came out of HS, he was considered one of the very top prospects in the nation (someone correct me, please, if I'm wrong). He has certainly not lived up to that. But, he is a better player now than he was 2 seasons ago as a college Junior. At his age, however, you would assume he's had most of the growth as a player that he's ever going to have -- not necessarily all, but the biggest part of it. But... that's an assumption based on statistical facts; there are exceptions -- is he likely to be one of them?

Thoughts on Devin Robinson?

I can definitively say that he might or might not be ready for the NBA. We have to see how he looks in training camp - with the big boys. I don't like to base anything on SL play, but I admit he looked better than I thought he would, so it's a clear maybe from me.

I think NatP4's point is that Robinson is a 4, not a 2 or 3.

I don't know if he is an NBA player or not. PIF summed up nicely the statistical fact that he was one of our best players in summer league. That's certainly a good thing. But one must not get too excited when a 23 year old dominates summer league.

I think Ruzious has it right in that we'll just have to wait and see how he performs in training camp. I wouldn't characterize this as "wasting time". I think it's possible that he does pan out to be an NBA player. He's got the body for it. He's got the athleticism. He can shoot. It's just hard to project how he'll fare against NBA-caliber opponents.

His basketball IQ looks questionable at times, but good at other times. Sometimes he looks like an athletic freak that can rebound outside his area and block shots and finish lobs, other times you see that red flag lack of lateral quickness. Same lack of consistency, first 3 summer league games he had around 10 rebounds total, last two games he put up double digit rebounds in both games.

Also, please stop changing my posts, TBM.

He did have a 24 PER, .9 win shares, 113 o rating, 96 d rating, .618 TS% in summer league.

19 points 6 rebounds 2 assists 1.4 steals 1 block in 30 minutes per game.

His shot got blocked a lot for being as long as he is. I doubt he is going to change his release now, but at the very least he needs to be a bit more decisive.

His rebound at the 4 is concerning, but truthfully I can't imagine he'd be much worse then Kieff and Scott in that respect. He does seem like a more active and willing help defender, so that should help too.

So you want to put him at the 4 at 190 lbs or 200 lbs at most. That will work out real well in the nba just like people want Porter to play a lot of 4 spot and stay injured. SMH

this is so dumb. Do people even watch him play? he played the 4 at florida, in the g league, and in summer league. He doesn't play any 3 at all whatsoever. He can't dribble the ball, his lateral quickness measurements were bad to awful compared to other bigs in his draft class, not wing players.

it doesn't matter how much he weighs, what actually matters is whether or not he can rebound enough. that is all.
