The Amazingly Sucky Otto Porter Thread
I love Otto
But what’s with this kid? Brooks is annoyed and benching him for 4th quarters. Now we know Brooks is dumb, but’s where is the fire? Where is the efficiency?

Porter is a convenient scapegoat for the shortcomings of this coaching staff.

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Otto Porter Thread
There’s enough blame to go around. Otto included.
At some point, if you’re being paid the max and taking 6 shots, then some of the blame is on you.
Wall and Beal are the leaders of this team and we have a blow-up every year complete with multiple team meetings and a culture that screams dysfunction. Sounds like some of the blame should go on them too.
Brooksie is the coach of this team. His rotations are awful but that’s not his claim to fame - it’s player development and team unity - not seeing much of that right now. Blame for him.
Who put this mess of a team together? Ernie. I don’t have the time of day to go through his faults. Suffice to say, blame on him. (As if that even needed to be said)
And who is keeping Ernie in power? The man behind the curtain, Ted. Blame for him.
This team just isn’t fun to root for. They’re spoiled, entitled brats who are constantly looking out for themselves. They walk around thinking they’re better than everyone when a quick look in the mirror or a history book would show them for what they are - losers. From the top down.

Somehow I knew Beal and Wall names would show up in this thread and it only took only the 3rd post. Thought this was about Otto and no he does not suck. His surperior's do though.

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Otto Porter Thread
I'll just leave this here.
https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/washington-wizards-otto-porter-blame-john-wall-bradley-beal-markieff-morris-2018-19-season
Brooks blaming Otto to me is proof that Brooks is in over his head and he's clearly feeling the pressure.
It's obvious from his tenure here that he doesn't have the guts to challenge Wall and Beal, so he challenges the one guy that's putting his game in the service of the team, consistently.
It's a joke.

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Otto Porter Thread
Hahaha there’s actually a little module for Otto’s shots per possession when playing with certain teamates. That’s great.
Look at those results with/without Wall vs with/without Satoransky. That is truly hilarious.
This team is a GD embarrassment to organized sports

Otto is a tragic figure having to deal with Brooks. And Wall. He is a noble man, refusing to play the wrong way. This thread should be locked.

I love Otto playing the right way but I think he’s gotta be more selfish. Wave off Wall. Get to the rim more.
HIs shots will start to fall we know that

Otto, Beal, Sato, Brown Jr, and Oubre to the Celtics for Robert Williams.
Who says no? Wall gets his athletic big, I get to never watch the wizards again

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Otto Porter Thread
How can you know who Otto is when you cant say what his role is on the team. He gets yanked for Rivers when he misses a shot. He sits down before the rest of the starters and rivers gets inserted when he makes a shot. Otto plays with the back ups...then sits when the starters come back... Otto gets plays called for him and misses ALL of them...then they go away from him for the rest of the game...like “I told you so”. At some point Otto isnt being nobel by not saying anything about Brooks and the rotation and the shots, he is being rich and content. A pro athlete that is being paid to play basketball and its not in his best interest to care if the team wins or loses because he A. Gets paid anyway. B. He is a role player and wont get the credit if they win or the blame in reality if they lose. Otto acting like a gentleman- but if Lebron said nothing as a elite small forward while they lost to sac we would question his heart. Otto aint on Tatums level but why not...you gonna blame Wall and Beal for that? Look i dont know man...Otto could suck or could be the second coming...the coaching so bad and his minutes are so sporadic that if you say you know...you lying. You think Otto would be the best player on Brooklyn right now? They feel like they dodged a bullet- Read their news- when Otto got matched..cause he hasn’t evolved. If Otto not making the 3, and he aint so far this year, is he a max player? Can you be a max player and never ever ever been in consideration for player of the week, month, allstar game, player of the game, best player on the court, best player on your team? Its funny...but I recall only a few games in his career where he was the LEADER or BEST player on the court for the game. I know he has been a difference maker...but thats in his ROLE...notlike Wall, Beal, KO, Morris- Its more like Damn Otto was good in that stretch or wow...he was on tonight...but its not like the team every RODE him and he was locked in a led the team to victory. A Max small forward should do that...at least sometimes. If Otto was the best player on this team (no wall no beal) do they even make the play offs? If Wall and Beal were not on this team...would Otto be the best player or would it be Green or KO or someone else....i dont know.
Otto is being judged now just like Wall and Beal...and I’m just sayin the jury is out on if he is SUCKY....but most of the people on the jury voting that this dude is guilty of sucking and I am unconvinced but they are making some convincing arguements. One arguement is he is a role player being paided like a star

Otto for Jimmy Butler...if Butler comes...we got a actual leader. If he leaves after one year...we at least got ONE of the bad contracts off the books.

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Otto Porter Thread
Sure Otto is overpaid but a bad contract? John's supermax and Ian Mahinmi will kill us next year. If we could find a way to get a decent return for Wall and get a smarter coach & GM future would be a lot brighter. Not necessary a championship but at least not this stupid drama.
Personally I love Otto (& Tomas
) because they're humble team players. Unfortunately they should start taking plenty of bad shots so they'd get more minutes because Brooks loves that.
Personally I love Otto (& Tomas

1000000% agree with this. You don't pay a guy 100m to be a 4th option. Trade him if he's not going to be used properly OR if there is a significant issue with him and Brooks (assuming Brooks isn't canned.) If you bring in Butler, you get a bonafide alpha. And as much as it hurts me to say, attaching a first or two will probably be more appealing to the T-Wolves because the Wizards future is that much more bleak than the rockets...and that means a higher draft pick. We all know EG loves dealing his picks, so there's that...there is no hope for this team. None.

Otto or Brooks? Brooks gotta go first.

I hope Ted sees it that way. You're paying one guy 25m and another one 7m. I'd go with getting rid of the coach who can't get thru to his players...

There are a handful of coaches, if that, in the league who should be making in excess of 7 mil per year. I just looked...Stevens is only making 3+ mil per year. Wizards are an absolute joke.

The thing is, getting rid of the guy making 7 million directly hurts your pockets as an owner, whereas the guy making 25 million doesn't. And getting rid of the 25 million guy actually HELPS your pockets if Ted can get an lesser/expiring contract in return given the Wizards impending cap hell.
